Billionaire, Let's Divorce!

Chapter 0438

.

AUTHOR'S POV

Ana exhaled loudly as she stepped into Dennis' ward and took her seat by his side. She brought out a book and began to read.

Occasionally, she'd open up her phone to watch Justin sleep or play around the house while the nanny got busy or just snuggled in one of the sofas to read, keeping an eye on Justin.

It has now become sort of Ana's routine.

On days where she spent the night in the hospital, she'd leave early to go take care of Justin and return. While she sat beside him, her warm fingers intertwined with his cold still ones, she'd read.

Dennis was still in coma and each day, Ana felt her fear heighten.. fear that he might remain comatose till his death. All because of her.

She wanted him to open his eyes and look at her with the love he's always got for her. She needed to tell him how much she loved him and was grateful to have him in her life. But most of all, she needed to apologise to him.

She had been so selfish, thinking that their pain wasn't as great as hers... they all loved Amie dearly and they were all hurt by her departure from this life. Proof of that was how hard Aiden and Dennis had fought to get her the justice she deserved.

All the while, Dennis stood by her and took care of Justin. He was strong for Justin but she chose to isolate herself and burrow deeper in her loss.

If it wasn't for Dennis, she probably would have taken her own life now. Her fingers tightened around his. He saved her and got her the needed help.

Though it was still hard. When one has gone through what she has, depression is always a step away. She'd refused to take that step. For Dennis and for Justin.

The glimpses of a happy future with them keeps her sane and resilient. Besides, the government had a laser eye on her. They wanted to be sure that she was sane enough to take care of Justin and not harm him or herself. So she has to prove to them that she was really fine. That she was trying to be better, else they locked her up, away from the two people that made her want to be better.

She stepped out of her car and wrapped the black veil tighter around her head.

Another routine she'd gotten used to was paying Amie's grave a visit. The trips, she had found, were cathartic.

Amie was finally in peave and she had no cause to ruin her life or anyone else's just because she was grieving.

She had come to understand that it was okay to move on. When the dead dies, they have moved on to rest and it was mandatory on the living to keep living, no matter what.

Besides, she knew that Amie would not want her the way she almost made herself, miserable, refusing to move on.

"Mommy is doing better now, Amie," she said as she placed the last fresh sunflower on her grave. Amie always liked flowers even though she complained that they didn't smell all that good.

A gentle breeze whistled through, slightly moving my scarf. "I believe you're doing great too," she said as she lowered herself onto a stone by the side of her grave.

"You know what?" Her gaze fell on

the grave. "On my next visit, I think I'll

bring Justin with me." A smile spread on her lips at the thought of her son. "He's grown so big, Amie. He grins and coos a lot." Her smile widened. "Gosh, he's so adorable." She paused. “I sometimes show your paintings to him. Though he looks at them like he understands, I still can't wait to show him when he's older. I can't wait to tell him all about you. I'm sure he'll be proud to have a sister like you. And we'll all cherish the memories we had with you."

She allowed her words to hang in the air. For the soothing breeze to deliver them to Amie. She imagined Amie's smile as she listened. "Sometimes, I wonder if you see us, you know," she said out of the blue. "If you watch over us." She shrugged, "well, if you do, make sure you pay more attention to your

hurt," she whispered the last part.

Her phone abruptly vibrated in her pocket and she was quick to retrieve it. Her heart skipped a beat when she saw that it was from the hospital.

She squeezed her eyes shut and muttered in one breath, "Please, be good news." Then, she answered the call.

"Hello?"

"Mrs Dennis. Your husband is awake and he's asked to see you!"

Yes! "Thank you so much," she beamed. "I'll be on my way now."

"Finally, Amie," a tear rolled down her cheeks, her heart filled with so much joy and contentment. "Finally, a new beginning."

She left the graveyard with the thought that her next visit would be with the whole family.

She reached the hospital in no time. As she stepped into the room, she was welcomed by Dennis' smile, his eyes twinkling as he opened his arm that wasn't in a sling.

She felt tears rush to her eyes. "Oh Dennis." She ran to him and lowered herself to hug him.

He let out a groan, patting her back. "Okay. You're squeezing me," he forced out.

Ana giggled happily as she pulled back, tears still streaming down her cheeks. "I'm so sorry. I'm sorry," she said, smoothing her palms over his chest.

"Relax," Dennis said, a haughty smile on his lips.

Ana chuckled, unable to hide her joy. She hugged him again and pressed a kiss to his lips. "I missed you."

Dennis looked at Ana and his heart swelled with joy. His wife was back. "I missed you too, babe," he said and pulled her in for another hug his face burrowed in her hair.
