CHAPTER FORTY EIGHT
Raymond decided to meet up with Gavriel so they could go to the bar from his home. He quickly had a shower, went out in a designer’s long sleeve and fitted jeans, a black and red spotted can, and of course, his highly recommended cologne.
He then entered his car and zoomed off. On his way, he remembered Nicole and wondered if he was going to set his eyes on her again. He did not know where this feeling of loving a stranger came from, but all he knew was that he needed her. As he kept on driving, his organ of sight caught the attention of something he had rarely seen, and that immediately reminded him of Natasha.
Natasha is a nice, beautiful woman who was twenty-four years old as of the past year. She was Gavriel’s fiance, and she really loved him, but Gavriel did not love her back to the extent she loved him. Things were going well between them until a night before their marriage when Natasha came home wasted as a result of being in a drunk state in her bridal shower and threw up on Gavriel, and he called off their marriage.
Everyone was shocked and against the fact that he called off the marriage because of one mistake. Gavriel wanted to kill her for that, but because her father and his father were business partners, he sent her out of his house as well as his life. She sat by the roadside outside his house and cried so badly. She begged and apologized, saying it was a mistake and it would never happen, but Gavriel did not let her in.
Natasha was in pain for months… she barely ate or drank, nor did she leave her house. She was so devastated that she lost two precious people at the same time because of a mistake, her fiance and her wedding.
The young lady by the roadside reminded him of Natasha so much that he felt bad for Natasha then, but all the advice he gave Gavriel helped with nothing as Gavriel insisted, saying he had made up his mind and no one, even his parents, could change that.
Now he felt bad for the young lady at the roadside who had entered a cab.
“Man, what’s up? I was about to come to your house, but I had an urgent meeting, and I am just getting home now,” Mr. Gavriel explained when he saw Raymond enter his house and stroll toward him.
“Well, now that I am here, I decided to come over so we could go from here, and most importantly, I miss your chef’s food, and why is this house so quiet and scanty?” Raymond said as he sat on a couch in the sitting room and wondered what was going on.
“What are you saying, Raymond? Did I not tell you that I sent them to my father’s house because I employed a secretary who signed a contract to be my house help?” Gavriel said as he wondered if he did not tell Raymond the situation at hand, but he knew that he made sure Raymond was aware.
“Oh, forgive my manners… how could I forget? I just remembered because you reminded me,” Raymond said, covering himself up for looking stupid.
“Now, I would not get to eat that wonderful meal your chef prepares,” Raymond added.
“Okay, would you like to have a drink? “And if you want the meal, you should go to my father’s house,” Gavriel said as he walked towards the wine counter a few feet away from his living room.
“No, there is no need for that since we would drink at the bar… just go upstairs, freshen up, and rest because I know for sure that your women will be all over you… I will be in my room shortly after I rest my head here,” Raymond said as he remembered something.
“Okay, make sure to rest also,” Mr. Gavriel replied as he laughed at Raymond’s mindset, but that was true.
“I think something is missing because I have not found it,” Raymond said.
“What are you insinuating?” Mr. Gavriel asked as his friend looked around as if he were searching for something.
“Where is your secretary?” Raymond asked as the mansion entrance door opened and a fragile-looking creature walked in, looking stressed out.

Christina walked in so helplessly as she held her heels, bag, and phone in her hand.
She did not notice the two men in the sitting room as she walked in and went straight to the staircase and then to her room. What mattered to her right now was the fact that she needed a bath.
“Gavriel, who is that young lady who just walked into your apartment without saying a word?” Raymond asked
“Well, that is my secretary you were asking for a few minutes ago,” Gavriel said as he loosened his tie.
“Gavriel, did she not see us here?” Raymond asked.
“How do you expect me to know that? I am very sure that with what you have seen, you now understand why I chastise her. She is such a dumbass! ” Mr. Gavriel replied, and of course, he lied. He knew that she was like that because of what he did to her on the road, but he did not care at all because he believes that she deserves it.
Raymond could not get the point… she was the same lady he saw crying at the roadside… his eyes could not deceive him, not now, not ever. He was so sure that she was the one, and if that was true, then Gavriel must have had a hand in it or probably did that to her. He needed to speak with Christina.
“What are you thinking about?” Mr. Gavriel asked when he noticed Raymond staring at him without saying anything.
“Why is your secretary’s face long? And she looked stressed out too? “Or is she not your secretary?” Raymond intentionally asked.
“Of course, she is my secretary… please forget about her for now. Let me go upstairs, have a shower, and relax. Remember to have your rest. ” Mr. Gavriel said as he walked towards the staircase, avoiding the question asked of him.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
“Hell no, he did not even answer my question… I think I would have to see the lady first,” Raymond said as he got up from where he was sitting and went upstairs to freshen up since he was feeling so hot.
He had a room on the third floor, where Mr. Gavriel’s room was also located. Mr. Gavriel gave him a room there because he saw Raymond as a brother… he was more than a friend to him.
Tina, who had finished taking her bath, walked to the mirror and stared at herself as tears fell from her eyes and her fingers ran around the injury she had sustained in the morning. She looked lean, and that was a result of the stress that resulted in her losing weight. Since she signed that contract, she had never had peace of mind.
‘ God, it is obvious that my situation has become worse than before. Did I make a mistake by looking for a job? Did I offend anyone? Did I do the wrong thing by going to the club that day? Did I make a mistake by getting drunk? God, I have a lot of questions, and I do not know how to answer these questions. I am so tired that I do not think I can go on anymore, but I cannot quit. What type of fate is this? I have just stayed in this house for twenty-two hours, and it already seems like I have been here for twenty-two years. I cannot believe that a lot has happened in less than twenty-four hours. Tina asked herself numerous questions she could barely answer… the tears kept on falling freely from her eyes to her cheeks, some falling on her hands and chest, some rolling down her neck, and the rest on the floor as she tightened up her grip on the bathrobe she was wearing.
She just hoped something bad could happen to her so she could just die and her existence on earth would be wiped off. She hoped that a car would just run her over. She kept wishing for death for herself, but that would never come.
