Chapter 26
Chapter 26
Chapter 26 Reuben “Who the hell is this Walter guy?” Dex’s growl echoed in my mind as Willow left the dining room during her phone call. The intensity of my frustration matched the clattering noise of the fork hitting the plate. The mention and interest of this man concerning Willow set me on edge. I pressed the middle of my forehead, restraining myself from using my wolf senses to cavesdrop on her conversation to learn more. about that guy. Suddenly, another familiar voice reached me from outside, despite me not using my wolf hearing. It was unclear and faint. Rising from my seat, I strode to the window. Out Before I could in the front yard, Willow and Ella were locked in a tense confrontati hear a single word, Ella abruptly left, leaving Willow with a betrayed expression. Confusion knitted my brows. What was happening? My gaze followed Willow the entire way as she returned to the packhouse a couple of seconds later. She glanced toward the dining area where I stood by the window. Her eyes held a new layer of hatred as they shimmered with unshed tears and had a slightly red tint to them. My frown deepened. Why had she glared at me like that? She averted her gaze from me and instead of returning to the dining area, she headed upstairs. I stood there, thoroughly confused, when another voice resonated in my mind. “Reuben,” Oran’s voice came through the mind-link, “Could you please come up to your office? There is an important matter we need to discuss.” “Coming,” I replied, leaving my spot by the window. The children were engrossed in their food and conversation, so they’d be occupied for a while. Leaving the dining room, I ascended the stairs to my office where Oran greeted me with a letter, “This letter arrived this morning from the Blue Heaven Pack.” “What’s this about?” I inquired, arching an eyebrow as I unfolded the paper marked with an official seal and Alpha Conar’s signature. The Blue Heaven Pack stood among the top five packs, It was robust and formidable much like my
own. Alpha Conar and I had been best friends since we were in school together, we shared numerous profitable treaties and engaged in several joint business ventures. However, due to our responsibilities and busy schedules, our meetings were limited, often occurring at Alpha Balls. This letter from Conar marked the first time he had ever sent me an official communication. As I delved into the contents of the letter, 1/5 The Secret to Making More Money with Lesa Ella 1- A 769 13:08 Thu, 29 Feb & B. Chapter 26 Oran spoke up. “To save you the bother of reading that, last night another pack was mysteriously wiped out, much like the Silver Moon Pack,” Oran revealed. “What?” I was taken aback, my gaze locking onto Oran. “Which pack?” Oran’s expression was grave as he replied, “The Green Wood Pack.” “The Green Wood Pack?” My eyes widened instantly. Similar to Silver Moon and Blue Heaven, the Green Wood Pack held a position as one of the strongest and top-ranked packs. Yet, it had suffered the same fate. With their extensive number of pack members and unparalleled strength, it seemed utterly impossible for the Green Wood Pack to be eradicated in a single night. “So, this letter…” I paused in suspicion. Oran nodded in confirmation, “Two powerful and top-ranking packs have been annihilated in a very short span of time, causing fear and concern among all the packs. All the leading packs have convened to investigate. The meeting is being held at Blue Heaven, and Alpha Conar has requested your presence, given that our pack is the foremost among all the packs,” Oran clarified, summarizing the essence of the letter. I tossed the letter onto my desk and leaned back in my chair. “Reuben, are you considering going?” Oran inquired.
I nodded, lost in thought. “Now that this situation has escalated to this extent, I can’t just sit idly by. The destruction of both the Silver Moon and the Green Wood Packs, two of our allies, is a significant loss to our pack. If this continues, chaos will reign, and I won’t stand for it,” I stood up, moving toward the window. “Absolutely, if this pattern continues we could be the next in line for an attack,” Oran warned. “I don’t care if we’re attacked,” I remarked, lighting a cigarette. “In fact, I find it intriguing how a pack of thousands could simply vanish.” Oran looked at me in confusion, “If the attack doesn’t concern you, then what does interest you?” “The person behind all of this,” I exhaled a puff of smoke and glanced over my shoulder, noticing a third person standing in the doorway. Oran frowned and turned toward Bix, “Why the heck are you here? I told you to stay away from Reuben for a while.” “It’s been over a week! How long am I supposed to stay in exile?!” Bix snapped back. “I 2/5 The Secret to Making I +6 Chapter 26 can’t stand being ignored by him. I’d rather take another beating just so I can stand beside him again,” he entered the room, eyeing me. “Reuben, I’m truly sorry about that day. What I said was a result of pent-up frustration from the last six years. I didn’t realize when I crossed the line. Willow suddenly appeared with two children and at that moment, I judged her based on the information that was in front of me. She acted ruthlessly selfless towards you years ago. So, I wanted to hurt her like she did you, when she abandoned you.” “You’re not in a position to hurt Willow, Bix,” I sharply interrupted him. Bix valued friendships and relationships above all else. He would react strongly if someone close to him, especially me, were upset. He had started holding a grudge against Willow the day. she left me. Bix fell silent and stopped as I moved toward him. “Whatever happened between Willow and I isn’t for others to handle. She left me, took my children, and shattered my heart. Whatever she did, she did to me,
and I’ll handle her as I see fit,” I stated firmly, staring him down. “I…I understand,” he stuttered with a nod. “I’m truly sorry, so please don’t ignore me,” his eyes were filled with regret. “You won’t be forgiven next time,” I muttered as I passed by him. Bix’s face brightened, “Of course!” he grinned, reverting to his usual self. I paid no attention to him as I exited my office, while Oran stopped Bix from following me by grabbing his collar. “Don’t get too excited and make another mistake, you idiot,” he warned Bix. “Am I a child?” Bix coldly retorted. “Worse than a child,” Oran rolled his eyes, then noticed I had already left. “Where did he run off to so quickly? I still need to respond to Alpha Conar’s Beta regarding Reuben’s decision…” Oran hurried out of the office, only to find me downstairs. He panicked, “Reuben, where are you going? You should call Alpha Conar to confirm your attendance!” he shouted. “Later, I’m busy right now,” I replied without turning back. “Busy? I don’t remember you having any meetings scheduled for today,” he murmured, perplexed but I was already gone. Willow After my encounter with Ella, I retreated to my bedroom, seeking peace in the shower to clear my mind. From our first meeting in Reuben’s office, a small sense of doubt had 8/5 The Secret to Makin 零76%曲 13:08 Thu, 29 Feb 6 B. Chapter 26 lingered in my mind about her feelings for Reuben and now, everything seemed. validated. Her expressions, silence, and concealed truths had decimated years worth of a close friendship, memories, and trust. The sudden shift in my relationship with my once-close friend, after six years was beyond my wildest imagination. Then again Reuben had said that Ella was just a friend and that she didn’t have feelings for him, hadn’t he? A pang of hurt pierced my heart. Was he
lying to me? Yes, he obviously had. He had lied to me alot. Why had it bothered me this time? They were already engaged. I aggressively shut off the shower and stepped out. As I wrapped myself in a towel, I realized it was already late in the morning. Wyatt and Lori, who had been ready to head out since I went done earlier, were likely waiting for me. My tangled thoughts had kept them waiting far too long. I hurriedly dressed, opting for a red knee-length sleeveless dress after drying my hair. There was too much to get done today, and I needed to get going. Checking my purse one last time to ensure I had everything that I could possibly need, I made sure the Wade Moon Pack papers were safely tucked inside before leaving my bedroom. Today was the day that I had planned to return the papers to Alpha Benjamin and delve deeper into the mysterious incident involving the Silver Moon Pack, which had become a looming threat to all werewolf packs. Lost in thought as I descended the stairs, I heard the cheerful voices of my children. They were already in the living room. “Wyatt, Lori, let’s go…” I called out to my children affectionately, but my words caught in my throat when, behind their small figures, I noticed a tall figure dressed in black, exuding a devilishly handsome and affluent aura. “Where are you going?” I barely managed to whisper, taken aback by the unexpected sight. “Shopping, obviously,” he replied in a cool tone. “Shopping?” I repeated in disbelief, eyeing him from head to toe. That was when it dawned on me. “Impossible!” I raised my voice. The very idea that this man was even considering it shocked me. “I’m not taking you shopping with me, Reuben!” Unexpectedly, he stared at me for a couple of seconds before calmly replying, “Okay.” He walked closer to me, and I couldn’t help but look at him in surprise. How could he accept it so easily? He was not someone that accepted refusal easily. Then he suddenly lifted Wyatt and Lori into his arms and stated, “I am going with my children.” “What?” My jaw dropped in shock. He was going with the children? But I was supposed to be taking them and indirectly it means he was tagging with us. “Let’s go,” he said cheerfully to the children and began walking away.Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.

Wait!” But he ignored me and continued walking. “Reuben!” I yelled, this time he looked over his shoulder but not to argue with me, “We are going to be late, momma,” he smiled before leaving the packhouse, taking my children along with him right before my eyes. I couldn’t help but grit my teeth. How cu nning was this man? Had he planned all of this? Earlier at the dining table, I had made the mistake of mentioning shopping in front of him, but he had seemed like he hadn’t heard or cared. Yet, out of the blue here he was, all dressed up to go shopping and taking my children out! I quickly walked out of the pack house only to find all three of them had already disappeared into my car. Once I looked inside, I found Wyatt and Lori were in the back. seats like usual, while Reuben had settled into the passenger seat. I opened the driver’s side door and glared at Reuben, “Get out of my car right now or…” Before I could say another word, he suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me inside. The door shut behind me, and before I could realize what was happening, I found myself sitting on Reuben’s lap. “Or what?” he whispered, his breath fanning against my lips. My heart raced with our close proximity. “Or I will fight you,” I retorted, trying to push him away, but he caught my hand and rested it softly against his cheek. “Fight all you want, Willow…” he whispered, gazing into my eyes and brushing his nose against mine, “I am entirely yours…” H 5/5 色
