Chapter 69 Losing Control
Darren asked the driver to send Sierra back as soon as they left the hall.
However, he made an excuse about work he needed to finish and didn't leave with her.
When they left, he turned back to the hall without any specific reason.
Then he saw what was happening not far away from where he was standing.
What had Arslan just said? No, that couldn't have been right.
Did he want to pursue Claire? How was that even possible? And since when did Claire have anything to do with Arslan? Darren's face darkened all of a sudden as malicious thoughts clouded his mind. NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.
It was at that time that, Claire also saw Darren.
As soon as he appeared backstage, there was a small commotion around him.
Many staff who were still doing the final touches had stopped and were staring at him in disbelief.
So naturally, Claire noticed him too.
How could a workaholic like Darren have given up his precious time to come to a concert? That couldn't be right.
On second thought, Claire guessed that he hadn't come there alone.
He had to either be with Sierra or Bonita.
Whomever he came with, she didn't want to see any of them.
Meanwhile, Arslan was still waiting for Claire's answer.
He had recognized Darren as soon as he appeared.
And a small flicker of doubt had formed in his mind.
After leaving the party last time, Arslan had done some research on Claire's ex-husband.
He had felt the need to know who had talked with Claire on the other end of the call and what the man looked like.
But later he thought that, since Claire and Darren had divorced, they had nothing to do with each other any more.
As for the reason why Darren had shown up at his concert, it was none of his business.
The man could have been a secret fan for all he cared.
But with Claire's silence, as she looked in the other man’s direction, Arslan couldn't help but feel a little anxious.
He was not afraid of being rejected by her, because even if she refused him, he would not give up until she gave him a chance.
A man who pursued love had to have the courage to face a thousand failures and still be strong.
But of course, he hoped that Claire would agree, that way he could pursue her openly without having to walk on eggshells.
"Claire, what do you say?"
Arslan looked at her, with his eyes that couldn't lie, blazing sincerely.
Claire hesitated. Her previous stand faltering at the pressure of how the situation was unfolding. She knew very well in her mind that she should refuse him.
Although she liked Arslan's music and the feelings that came with it, that was different from liking a person and worlds apart from loving them. She didn't believe in love anymore and at first, hadn't wanted to give Arslan any false hopes.
But when she saw Darren, she suddenly had a strong impulse to take revenge on him.
It overpowered all her other senses and before she could figure it out, she blurted out subconsciously, "Okay."
Arslan took a minute to comprehend the great surprise and happiness that came with that one word.
"Really? Awesome!"
Claire smiled at him sweetly.
Arslan was so overwhelmingly excited that he hugged Claire tightly.
Having to watch all that, Darren became more and more furious.
Finally, he couldn't take it anymore.
He walked over to the two, took Claire's hand in his and said in a rough tone, "Come with me."
Darren tried his best to restrain the inexplicable emotions surging in his chest to keep them from showing on his face.He hadn't been in such a position for a long time.
Like he was almost on the edge of losing control and the only thing that held him back was a tiny thread of logic.
The only thought in his mind at that moment was to take Claire away from there immediately! But Arslan wouldn't let him get what he wanted.
"Sir, what are you doing? You are hurting her."
He protected Claire and helped her get out of Darren's grip.
Arslan pretended not to know Darren and that he was very angry with the stranger's rudeness.
Everyone backstage got even more curious and excited.
And the place went silent as they all focused on every detail of what was going on among the three.
How terrible it had to be for Claire.
Her ex-husband was preventing her from moving on with someone new.
It was hard to believe that such a scene would happen before their very eyes.
Although the storyline was such a cliche, no one was complaining.
Truth be told, everyone was quietly excited.
Though she was the topic of gossip, Claire had no time to care about other people's opinions.
The second her hand was out of Darren's grip, she rubbed her aching wrist gently with a cold face.
The expression on Darren's face as he saw how the two of them were acting, worsened.
With his cultured manners, he realized what he had done was wrong, but his pride couldn't let him apologize at such a moment.
So he just said to Claire in a chilly tone, "I have something to tell you."
Without hesitating, she replied with the same amount of coldness, "Why should I listen to you? I don't want to hear anything that you have to say, okay?"
She couldn't think of anything left for them to talk about.
Darren would probably just tell her that he wanted her to protect her fame.He would scold her for not making friends properly before finally asking her to accept his compensation.
Maybe he wasn't bored by saying the same things over and over.
But she was tired of listening to him! Sometimes she wondered why Bysea was so small that she met him everywhere she went.
Darren became speechless at Claire's question. He pursed his lips, but his eyes were still fixed on her.
Claire looked into his eyes firmly and hoped that they were telling him to leave her alone.
The two of them stared at each other in silence for a while, each one unwilling to shift the ground.
Suddenly, a staff member dropped his pen, and the sound was loud enough to break the icy silence in that space.
All the people turned to look at him subconsciously.
The man picked up the pen awkwardly and nodded his head apologetically.
With the confrontation interrupted, Claire withdrew her eyes from Darren. She really didn't know what all that was for, except to create a big scene in front of others.
So she just turned away and left.
Darren didn't stop her, but unconsciously he clenched his fists to prevent himself from going after her.
The inexplicable emotion almost overwhelmed him.
Arslan stared at Darren for a while, and then chased after Claire, leaving the other man behind.
The onlookers could feel that Darren was extremely heartbroken seeing that.
