Chapter 8
Chapter 8
Chapter 8 “Oh man, Acacia, you okay?” Elspeth was taken aback, yet couldn’t help but chuckle a bit. Seeing this. Thaddeus rushed over, bent down to pull Acacia up from the ground, but she wouldn’t budge. “Thad, I’m hurt all over, hold me.” Acacia was crying out loud, her knees numb from the fall. Evadne stood with her arms crossed, coldly watching this spectacle. Acacia, the kind of woman who would play the damsel in distress whenever Thaddeus was around. “Thad, Ms. Ilana pushed me!” Acacia hid herself in the man’s arms, shooting daggers at Evadne with her eyes. “Acacia, what did you just say?” Thaddeus was taken aback. “You sure I pushed you?” Evadne scoffed, watching her perform. “You think I just tripped myself?” Acacia’s voice, usually soft and gentle, was raised in indignation. “Well, it’s not impossible. You look like you’re on your last legs, maybe you were blown over by the wind.” “You’re cursing me to die soon?!” Acacia’s face turned red with anger, “I clearly felt you push me when I was walking by. Are you denying it?!” “Ms. Acacia, this is a society of laws, cameras are everywhere, you can’t just talk nonsense.” Evadne’s eyes darkened, her presence intimidating, “If I find evidence, I can sue you for defamation.” Thaddeus’ pupils dilated, feeling as if Ilana had completely changed. She was no longer the meek wife who lived alone in an empty house. Acacia was clearly being oppressed by Evadne’s powerful presence, she quickly turned to Elspeth for help. “Oh dear, it’s just a misunderstanding!” Elspeth sneakily glanced at the camera above, “Acacia must’ve tripped and accidentally bumped into Ilana. So you thought she pushed you, it’s all a misunderstanding!” “Acacia, did you really just trip?” Thaddeus looked at the woman in his arms, his tone slightly cold. “I thought she pushed me…”
The man’s expression froze. Acacia panicked, “If she hadn’t stepped aside, I wouldn’t have fallen! She did it on purpose! My bracelet is broken too, it was a family heirloom! If it wasn’t for her, it wouldn’t have broken!
Ms. Ilana, I know you’re not happy about your divorce with Thad, but you shouldn’t take it out on me. Is it my fault you two broke up?” With that, Acacia started crying again. What a woman, always ready to cry. “Firstly, I’m not upset, on the contrary, I should thank you for helping me escape from misery, not having to wait up late at night for someone.” Evadne proudly retorted. Wait up late at night? Thaddeus’ face stiffened. “And secondly, if this bracelet is really a family heirloom, you should be thanking me.” Evadne walked over, picked up half of the bracelet, “This is fake.” “What?!” Acacia was shocked, even Elspeth was taken aback. “This bracelet is made of fake crystals, wearing it for a long time is actually harmful to your body, the toxic substances can seep into your skin and affect your blood system.” Evadne tossed the broken bracelet into the trash, her diamond bracelet, a gift from Thaddeus’ grandfather, seemed to mock Acacia. “Mr. Thaddeus, since Ms. Acacia is going to be with you, you should at least buy her some decent jewelry.” “Ilana.” Thaddeus frowned, showing his displeasure. “I still have a crystal frog on my dressing table at his place, if you don’t mind, you can take it and make a bracelet.” Evadne brushed off her hands, as if touching the bracelet would dirty them. Frog… frog?! Ilana was clearly poking fun at her! 1/3 11:26 Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Chapter 8 Acacia was furious, but Evadne was already far away. Outside the hospital. Evadne couldn’t help but laugh as she thought about Acacia’s shocked expression. “Ilana.” Hearing Thaddeus’ deep voice, she turned to look at him. A breeze blew by, lifting her hair, adding a touch of beauty to her. Thaddeus approached her. “Anything else. Mr. Thaddeus?” Evadne was cold, “If Ms. Acacia is still upset about her bracelet, tell her that I will buy a bunch for her at the market tomorrow.” “Earlier in the ward, you and grandpa said…” “Oh, that. Don’t overthink it, I just didn’t want to upset your grandpa.” Speaking of Mr. Hamiltion, her eyes softened. “Then we’re even.” Evadne was confused. “You faked your identity, fooled me. We’ll call it even. I won’t tell grandpa, or anyone in the Abernathy family.” Thaddeus looked serious. Evadne’s eyes widened, was this for real? “But you have to tell me, why did you marry me under a false identity? No, I should ask.” Thaddeus closed in on her, “What were you after when you approached grandpa with a fake identity?” Evadne’s heart raced, she backed away. But she forgot about the steps behind her, lost her footing, and was about to fall backward! But the next second, she felt someone steady her. Their eyes met, Evadne blushed, Thaddeus looked a bit nervous. Even now, she found Thaddeus very attractive.
Thirteen years ago, Evadne was only eleven, in the terrifying darkness, she would never forget those bright eyes. Thaddeus had saved her life, without him, Evadne might not be alive today. The Thaddeus now, truly made her feel pain, his presence was like a near-death experience. With a push, he helped Evadne stand upright. “Thanks.” “Answer the question I just asked.” Thaddeus persisted. “I’m not your wife anymore, I have the right not to tell you.” Evadne scoffed, turned around, “Since you said we owe each other nothing, why are you still pestering me? Even if I used a fake identity, I didn’t do anything to harm you in these three years, did I?” Suddenly, Thaddeus grabbed her arm tightly, his eyebrows furrowed, “We haven’t processed our papers yet, technically, you’re still my wife. So you’re obliged to let me know your identity!” “I have nothing to tell you!” Evadne was breathing heavily, her eyes welling up, “Mr. Thaddeus, you talk about obligations, isn’t it too ridiculous? You haven’t fulfilled your duties as a husband for these three years, how dare you demand me fulfill the duties of a wife?!” “Evadne, even if you don’t tell me, I’ll find out!” Thaddeus suddenly pulled her into his arms, the two of them close enough to feel each other’s breath. He’s not one to easily lose his temper, but this woman had been pushing his buttons ever since she left him. She sure has guts! “Well, you go ahead and find out, why are you asking me?” Evadne forcefully broke free of his grasp and left without looking back. Thaddeus watched her cold and elegant figure retreat, thinking of her fiery red lips and those sharp black high heels, feeling a tightness in his chest. Why has she become like this? Is it to cater to Cas sius’ preferences?
This sly woman! Why does his grandpa like her? “Mr. Thaddeus, Ms. Acacia said she twisted her ankle, she’s crying and wants you to go check on her.” Gordon panted as he caught up. Suddenly, the roar of a sports car engine filled the air. “Ah! It’s, it’s Mrs. Abernathy!” Thaddeus was stunned to see his ex-wife driving a sports car, wearing large sungla**es that covered half her face, and zooming past him with a swagger! She was driving a top-of-the-line, limited edition Bugatti La Volture Noire. “Mrs. Abernathy… turns out she’s a secret rich woman!” Gordon’s eyes nearly popped out of his head. Thaddeus’ gaze darkened even more, his hand slowly clenching into a fist. “Chase after her!”
