Chapter 76
Chapter 76
Since then, Lauren had not returned to the Bennett family.
Erica’s suicide had nothing to do with Lauren at all, but in the end everyone blamed Lauren. Kelly was
angry and indignant, saying, “How could they do this to you? They even don’t inform you that Clara
was going to tell the public that Erica is her daughter.”
At first, Kelly was happy that Lauren would go back together with her family but now she thought it
would be better if Lauren hadn’t returned to the Bennett family. Now they were going to hold a big
banquet and they even didn’t tell anything about this to Lauren! So if she didn’t attend that day, many
people would criticize her.
Kelly chanted next to Lauren for a long time, but found that Lauren did not react. Kelly turned her head, Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
and saw Lauren immersed in the research again. Some time ago, Lauren’s paper was published in
several top scientific magazines, and many famous
universities invited her to give lectures.
So Lauren didn’t care much about the Bennett family. During this time, she spent a whole day in the
laboratory, having no time to
think about others. Sometimes she would call Leo.
Lauren rubbed her sore neck, and looked at Kelly, saying, “What did you just say?”
Kelly, “…”
It turned out that Lauren didn’t hear anything about her complaint. So she repeated what she said
again, telling her that her aunt Clara was going to tell the public that Erica was her daughter.
Lauren nodded, calmly.
Kelly leaned over and asked, “Don’t you think Erica committed suicide on purpose?”
Hearing this, Lauren turned her head to look at Kelly.
Seeing Lauren looking at himself, Kelly immediately widened her eyes, like a dog waiting for Lauren’s
praise.
“In some degree, you are smart,” Lauren said.
Kelly was so happy because of Lauren’s praise and she continued, “How could your aunt not know
that?”
This time, Lauren did not say anything, but chuckled.
Kelly blinked her eyes, not knowing why.
Lauren glanced at her and said, “Aunt Clara is a very smart and sophisticated woman and I am sure
she know about this. She must know that Erica didn’t commit suicide because of me.”
The more Kelly listened, the more confused she became. Since Clara knew this, why did she tell the
public that Erica was her
daughter?
Lauren looked outside through the window and said. “People are biased.”
Hearing this, Kelly suddenly understood. Though it was not Lauren’s fault, Clara chose Erica over
Lauren. Because of her
partiality, even if Clara knew Lauren was innocent, she was still not willing to blame Erica.
Kelly’s eyes immediately turned red. She could imagine how sad Lauren would feel when she was
misunderstood and slandered. She almost cried.
