Chapter 35
Yan sits between the two of us and I can’t tell you how cold I feel in my stomach when I smell his perfume so close to me.
I swear I’m trying not to grab him right here. I feel desperate for his touch and the way he is holding the drinking glass and running his finger over the rim slowly is not doing much for me to keep my sanity.
I ask to divert my dirty thoughts regarding the two of us and a bed:
“So, have you known each other for a long time?”
Yan looks at me.
Damn, he’s too close.
I look away from him to Sarah.
She seems to love the question and holds Yan’s arm answering:
“No, a month or so ago we were at a bar. He was sitting across from me, as we are now. He seemed upset about something so I decided to ask if everything was okay.”
I take a deep breath. Sarah smiles and continues:
“I decided it would be worthwhile to stay and chat and try to cheer him up a little.”
They kiss again. I think I’m going to have to take several deep breaths today.
Someone approaches Sarah and says something in her ear. She looks at me and says:
“I need to go out for a while. In the meantime, why don’t you two have a little chat, I don’t know, catch up?”
She laughs and continues:
“I’ll be right back.”
She kisses Yan again and leaves.
We sit and stare at our drinks. I can’t talk here, especially not about what I want to talk about, it’s too noisy.
He turns to me and says:
“Do you want to dance?”
…
Lively music is playing loudly, but as soon as we reach the dance floor, slow music starts. Some people leave the dance floor and everyone who is left is in pairs and dancing together slowly.
We end up laughing.
Then we suddenly get serious. He comes closer and as soon as he hugs me, I can’t explain what I feel, I want to squeeze him tight and never let go because it feels so good to have him so close to me. I wanted it so much these last few days.
But I just keep my arms around his neck and my head on his shoulder, because I don’t want to look into his face right now, it would be too hard to resist.
I feel him take a deep breath. At least I know that this closeness of ours affects him too, and that’s good to feel.
But as I don’t press myself against him, he is doing the opposite.
His hands are slowly wandering inside my jacket, on my back, and squeezing me slowly, my breathing is speeding up because it brings up those thoughts again.
I close my eyes for a moment.
He moves closer to my ear and says rubbing against my ear:
“Do you know how many nights I’ve wanted to touch you like this?”
This depletes the strength in my legs.
Especially when his lips move down my neck and I feel his warm breath against my skin.
But he pulls away, looks me in the eye, and leaves the dance floor, making me go back to where I was standing and ask the bartender for something to drink.
A few minutes later Sarah arrives.
“Where is Yan?”
I thought he had gone after her. But I just lie:
“He said he needed to go somewhere and would be right back.”
She feathers say:
“Oh okay.”
She turns to talk to someone, a guy approaches my side and asks me if he can sit there and I just say:
“Of course.”
I go back to my drink, but he introduces himself:
“I’m Owen.”
“Sky.”
He smiles. He is handsome. I’ve never been one to find blondes attractive, but I’d say Owen is.
Minutes later we are already talking when I notice Yan coming closer.
I avert my eyes, he is totally in his bipolar state as he approaches as if he hadn’t left me in that state on the dance floor and walked away seconds later.Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
He sits down next to me again and upon noticing Owen, Yan starts asking questions about Max.
I answer so that it is brief and I don’t have to face him for too long. With Yan, it’s always a game, so let’s play.
I go back to talking to Owen and ignore the couple next to me. Yan notices and quickly turns to his girlfriend.
He hugs her and says something in her ear, she smiles, it seems like deja vu. I take a long sip of my drink.
They leave our field of vision and I am hating Yan now for making me feel this way after everything.
Owen tries to convince me to go out with him, but I’m not in the mood for anything else, I already know who I want and I’m just using Owen to make him jealous. The problem is that I don’t think this has worked.
Owen leaves, probably to go after another girl. I want to cry so much, but I don’t think I can do it here, it would be ridiculous.
So I get up and head for the exit.
Just as I am passing through the parking lot I hear my name called and realize that it is from inside a car.
The door opens and I see Yan get out and say:
“I’ll take you.”
I just turn to him, stare at him for a second, and say softly:
“No. Thank you.”
He knows that I am very angry with him right now, he can see it in my eyes. I won’t say another word, his girlfriend must be in the car. And it’s true because as soon as I take a few steps, she also gets out of the car and says:
“Come with us Sky. We were just about to ask you if you wanted to come.”
I roll my eyes without her noticing and think:
“I know you were.”
I just turn around, smile, and say:
“No, it’s okay, I’ll call a cab.”
Sarah says:
“No, you come with us. Yan will drop me off at home and take you to the hotel.”
