Chapter 59
Chapter 59
"Zeus, Athena, Apollo... Please save me!" Scarlet kept murmuring to herself.
"Scarlet? Are you praying and begging gods and goddesses?"
A dissatisfied voice came from above her head.
"You're better off begging me than begging deities that aren't real," Lenny said, frowning.
She had pleaded with so many gods and goddesses, but none of them was useful.
Hearing her ex-husband's familiar voice, Scarlet looked up.
The power was back on, and the lights were on.
Lenny looked down at her like she was a damsel in distress being rescued by her knight in shining
armor.
The moment Scarlet met Lenny's eyes, she couldn't help tearing up.
She crawled out from under the desk, threw herself at him, and hugged him tightly.
He had no idea how scared she was.
Feeling her soft body in his arms, Lenny stiffened. He didn't expect that Scarlet would cling to him, so
he didn't know what to do.
He was stunned. He felt the warmth and wetness of Scarlet's tears on his shirt.
She seldom cried. No matter what happened, she was always obedient and calm. She looked weak,
but she was more stubborn than anyone else.
He had seen Rosaline cry countless times. But Scarlet always straightened her back, as if her bones
were made of steel, and never yielded.
His heart beat rapidly.
After a few moments, he put one arm around her and gently stroked her hair with the other.
"Don't be afraid. I'm here."
"There were ghosts, Lenny. I heard them coming from the corridor."
She was so afraid that the ghosts would come to her. She didn't care that the ghosts would get her.
She just couldn't stand the idea of them harming her unborn child.

"It's just the wind. You're okay." Lenny spoke gently.
"I'm so sorry. It's my fault. I thought everyone in the office building had gone home."
While Lenny and Scarlet were having a moment, one of the security guards walked in and apologized.
Drake glared at the security guard, confusing the latter.
Lenny and Scarlet, who were hugging each other, snapped back to their senses and noticed the
security guard's presence. They immediately distanced themselves from each other, as if they got an
electric shock.
The two of them blushed and avoided each other's eyes, looking embarrassed.
The security guard cocked his head to the side. It was obvious that they were a couple. Why did they
look so self-conscious after being intimate with each other?
Maybe they just got together and were still shy.
The security guard thought that the young couple looked kind of cute.
After gathering her things, Scarlet went with Lenny and Drake to the car. They were ready to go home.
Scarlet had no choice but to sit with Lenny in the back seat because the passenger seat was occupied
with a lot of random things.
Lenny and Scarlet sat as far apart as they possibly could. The gap between them was so big that a
two-hundred-pound person could fit in it.
However, when Drake made a sharp turn, Scarlet lost her balance and got hurled toward Lenny.
"Hmm..."
Her nose hurt. She hit something hard.
She braced her hand on it. And then she grabbed it.
It turned out to be Lenny's toned chest.
With a grim face, Lenny thought that his ex-wife was taking advantage of him.
"Please behave yourself, Scarlet," Lenny commented firmly.
Scarlet came to her senses and shrank back in her seat. But before she could settle down, Drake Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.
made another sharp turn.
This time, it was Lenny who lost his balance.
He found himself pressed on top of Scarlet. The tips of their noses touched, and their lips were mere
inches away from each other. They were close enough to feel each other's hot breath.
Lenny braced one hand against the window and held Scarlet's waist with the other to steady his body.
Their position was extremely awkward and embarrassing.
He had just asked her to behave herself, but now...
Scarlet narrowed her eyes and gloated, "Please behave yourself, Mr. Foster."
It was tit for tat.
Hearing this, Drake couldn't help chuckling.
Lenny pulled a long face and knitted his eyebrows. His deep-set eyes darkened, and they looked
grimmer than the night outside.
"What's wrong with you, Drake? If you can't drive properly, I'll be happy to fire you and hire a new
driver."
Of course Lenny knew that Drake made those sharp turns on purpose. He didn't usually drive like a
lunatic.
