Chapter 19 I Found Myself In Another Man’s Bed!

“He still refused and said there’s a problem with the Cameron family’s financial situation… Maggie spoke with a tinge of sadness.

Master Cameron and Ronald had a hint of disappointment in their eyes, but they knew Nathael was right. There was indeed an issue with their family’s finances. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be so desperate.

“This Mr. Harris really knows how to manipulate the situation. He tarnished our Maggie without remorse, yet he’s unwilling to show any sincerity. Does he think our family is easy to deal with?” Madam Cameron spoke coldly.

A trace of mockery flashed in Maggie’s eyes. Perhaps this was how the Camerons deceived her in her previous life.

Unfortunately, even if she had doubts back then, she never wanted to think poorly of the Camerons.

She still remembered the day when Ronald and Olivia brought her back from the orphanage.

Life in the orphanage was not easy. Even though the director and teachers tried their best to be fair, there were still inevitable fights over resources. They were always struggling to make ends meet,

When Ronald and Olivia brought her back to the Camerons, they had carefully prepared a room for her. “Maggie, look. This is the room we prepared for you. Do you like it?”

Olivia, dressed in a black dress, knelt beside her and spoke gently.

The room was light pink, a bit gaudy with a princess theme, but it was new and considerate.

At that moment, Maggie thought she could finally have a home. But she didn’t expect that everything was a scheme from the start.

She lowered her eyes to conceal the bitterness in her heart.

Ronald and Olivia must have recognized her true identity early on, so they had malicious intentions. In order to strike at the Adams, they didn’t hesitate to stage this blood feud.

And the ironic thing was, they succeeded in the end.

“That’s right, we must seek justice for Maggie! My dear child was… was…” Olivia’s eyes reddened, and she choked on her words.

Maggie wanted to laugh. She had to admit the Camerons were skilled actors.

Each one of them could easily win an Oscar.

“Maggie, what do you think?” Ronald looked at Maggie and spoke with some hesitation.

After all, Nathael was famous. Countless women wanted to have a relationship with him. He had to guard against Maggie changing her mind.

A glimmer of tears welled up in Maggie’s eyes. She clenched her teeth and said coldly. “Nathael is powerful

In her previous life, she had said the same thing. The only difference was that she was sincere back then, but now she was just playing along.

“Well, you are indeed my daughter. It’s not in vain that I’ve been carefully nurturing you for so many years.”

“Maggie, if we plan to hold a press conference and have you testify against Nathael, would you dare?” Olivia spoke again, her words filled with concern for Maggie. Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.

Maggie answered slowly. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t dare to do. As long as it doesn’t cause him to take his anger on the Camerons, it’s fine.”

The Camerons nodded in relief at her agreement.

Maggie was still the same Maggie. It seemed that what happened last night was just a misunderstanding.

Maggie suppressed her nausea and had dinner at the Camerons‘ house.

After dinner. Joseph stood up and said gently. “I’ll take you home.”

“No need. I can take a taxi home.” Before Maggie could refuse, Olivia said softly, “Let Joseph take you. It’s dark outside, and it’s not safe for a girl to go home alone. We’ve told you to take a car from home, but won’t listen.”

you

Olivia’s words had a hint of reproach. If one didn’t know her true colors, they would certainly find such reproach very caring.

“I’ve spent enough of our family’s money. Mom, you should rest early too. I’ll come to see you when I have time.”

Maggie responded softly, her gaze carefully falling on Olivia’s face.

The woman truly had a kind face. In her previous life, she had never witnessed her lose her temper.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t because Olivia never did, but because she was blind.

She was blind both in her eyes and in her heart, to the extent that people became careless and insincere when they deceived her.

“What are you looking at?” Olivia asked with a smile.

“I just missed you a bit. It feels like it’s been a long time since I last saw you,” Maggie replied with a smile, her expression revealing no abnormalities.

In this moment, Maggie couldn’t help but want to give herself a thumbs up.

She had truly spent a long time with the Camerons, and her acting skills were not to be underestimated.

In the past, she could never comprehend how someone could pretend to be close and happy even thought they despised the other person.

Now, she understood..

But the price che id to nav was ton painful

Olivia smiled and said, “My dear, you must have been mistreated outside. That’s why you miss me. Why don’t you move back in? We’ve kept your room just the way it was

“No, Mom. I’ve paid a year’s rent. If I terminate the lease now, wouldn’t that be a huge loss? Maggie gently interrupted.

Olivia’s intention of having her move back to the Camerons was simply to keep her under their watchful cyrs

How could she possibly return when she had finally escaped from this dreadful place?

“Alright, I can’t compete with you. Let Joseph take you home.

This time, Maggie didn’t refuse. After all, it wasn’t yet time to completely sever ties with the Camerons.

She still had many things to figure out, such as how they knew about her background, the failed business deals of the Adams in the past, and the death of Zoey Adam.

Rather than causing a scene out of anger, it was better to keep her enemies in the dark and catch them off guard.

Once in the car, Joseph remained silent, seemingly suppressing his anger or perhaps waiting for Maggie to initiate a conversation.

But Maggie didn’t even want to glance at him. Maintaining ties with the Camerons didn’t mean she couldn’t break up with Joseph.

She leaned back in her seat and pretended to be asleep, her face expressing a clear ‘don’t mess with me attitude, which only intensified Joseph’s frustration.

He couldn’t help but glance at the woman in the passenger seat once again.

What was happening with Maggie?

In the past, she would have had countless topics to chat with him about and would have been eager to explain the events of the previous night!

The ride was silent. After a while, the car stopped in front of Maggie’s apartment building.

“Maggie…” Joseph couldn’t help but speak first. But before he could finish, Maggie opened the car door and gol out.

Joseph’s expression darkened. He quickly got out of the car and grabbed her arm. He asked, “Maggie! What’s going on? Were you really asleep in Nathael’s car last night?”

Maggie shrugged off his arm and looked up at him with a smile. “What else? What do you think happened?”

Seeing her seemingly angry, Joseph softened his tone. “I didn’t mean to imply that I don’t trust you. I was just jealous.”

Maggie raised her eyebrow. Her eyes stared directly at him, a hint of revenge in her smile. She said, “But you were right not to trust me. I wasn’t in Nathael’s car. I was in another man’s bed!”
