Master of his heart (Brielle and Max)

Chapter 1234

When the thought crossed his mind, he felt utterly ridiculous. How could Brielle possibly like him? She always looked at him with such disdain, as if she wished he would just drop dead. Impossible. His voice was shaky as he asked the question, his eyes red. He pushed her against the wall, holding her tightly. "Is it?"

Brielle remained silent, her gaze drifting past his shoulder to the little boy still standing at the bottom of the staircase. The boy seemed frozen for a moment before quietly making his way upstairs, as if retreating to his room. He was a spitting image of King, with cherubic features that made him irresistibly adorable.Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.

A pang of sorrow hit Brielle, and she looked away. "What do you mean?"

What was he trying to ask? All the courage King had mustered seemed to drain away. He didn't dare to ask further. If Brielle's memory was indeed stuck in that moment, then all she felt towards him was disgust. Asking her outright if she liked him was just setting himself up for humiliation.

But he had to clear the air. "I never had Myles touch the kid. You've always wanted to leave me, even threatening me with the child you carried. I heard you decided to sever ties with me by throwing our child into a dumpster."

"Impossible!" Brielle's face turned pale with shock. "How could I ever do such a thing? They-they..."

She hadn't even had a chance to see the child, didn't even know its gender. How could she possibly have thrown it in a dumpster? A warm surge flowed through King's heart, realizing Brielle had never abandoned their child. It had all been a misunderstanding. He hugged her tightly, a smile creeping onto his lips. "Really? You didn't?"

"Of course, I didn't!" Tears streamed down Brielle's face as she spoke. "But it doesn't matter anymore. The child didn't make it, and it's all my fault."

Isaac sat on the staircase, petting Noir's head, watching the two of them. He had overheard their conversation, so his mom hadn't thrown him away in a dumpster. He wasn't a child picked up from the trash; he was wanted. The villains had meddled in their lives,

The knot in his heart slowly untangled, yet the years without his mom's presence were real. His feelings for her couldn't compare to those he had for Noir. When Isaac looked up, his gaze met Brielle's. He quickly bowed his head, awkwardly fiddling with Noir's ear. Noir glanced at him, its ear twitching.

Brielle didn't understand the child's situation, but seeing him reminded her of the one she had lost. "King, let me go."

Her body stiffened. She had said those words countless times, as if desperate to escape his world. And so, he felt she loathed him.

He had answered countless times as well. Brielle remained silent, her low self-esteem surfacing once more. She always asked him to let her go, as if truly seeking worldly freedom. But if he really let go, it would hurt more than anything.

"I won't."

They held each other in silence, neither speaking a word. After a long while, King wanted to ask if she was tired and talk about Isaac. But Brielle had fallen asleep on his shoulder. She must have been lacking rest lately.

King's heart softened, and he carried her upstairs to bed. Isaac watched him pass by and quickly followed. After King tucked her in, he glanced at the clock on the wall. "Little cicada, you should rest too. I have something to tell you tomorrow." Isaac guessed it was probably about Brielle being his mom. He nodded and headed to his room without hesitation.

After a shower, King noticed the

wound on his shoulder still bleeding. Looking in the mirror, he saw half his face swotten. Exiting the bathroom he called a doctor to extract the bullet The procedure went smoothly, and the bloodied bullet

was wrapped in gauze. King thought for a moment, then instructed

Joseph, "Put this in a box and keep it

in my study."

The doctor couldn't help but glance at him, wondering if this was some kind of fetish. King, however, had a sweet look in his eyes and remained silent.
