Micaela was in shock.
It was Monday if she remembered correctly!
My God, I was doing an internship at a Japanese company and I was late!
Micaela hurried to eat her porridge.
The porridge was hot, sticky and melted in her mouth... it was so good!
Sofia smiled at her, she felt more and more fond of the girl, because she ate well, she looked like she
had studied table manners. She was also very pretty, and looked great with her master....
Micaela finished her breakfast under Sofia's watchful eye. She got up to clean up, but Sofia stopped
her and another maid, dressed as a servant, came forward immediately to pick up the dishes.
-Miss Noboa, just rest!
Micaela had to pull her hand away and look outside through the French window of the dining room.
It seemed to be a rather secluded place....
-This is Nyisrenda, a bit far from the city.
Sofia seemed to see Micaela's confusion and explained.
-Sofia, I have to go to work.....
Micaela found herself in a bind when Carlos told her to wait here until he returned.
After having saved her twice, she was ashamed to leave without saying anything, but work....
-Miss Noboa, why don't I ask the driver to take you? There are no cabs here. Come back in the
chauffeur's car after work. If the gentleman finds out that I haven't taken good care of you on the way
back, I'm afraid...
-Well, thank you Sofia!
Micaela said yes, it was a perfect solution.
I'm sure she'll have to thank Carlos in person and apologize to him, he was so unreasonable earlier in
the room....
Micaela approached the main entrance where there was a black car parked, Sofia was explaining
something to the driver, seeing Micaela get out, she opened the back seat door for her.
Micaela sat down and spoke with some uncertainty:
-Sofia, when I came yesterday, did you have a purse with you?
-Yes, but it got wet from the rain and was taken to the laundry. Don't worry, I've put your things away...
Oh, and the phone....
-I'm in no hurry, I can rest easy knowing that it's not lost. Well, if you would do me the favor of carrying
it, I would appreciate it.
Micaela didn't have anyone to contact either, and her aunt Marta and Andrea wouldn't contact her for
anything good.
It was better that her phone had broken in the water, so they wouldn't bother her again, and now that
she had escaped, there was no way she was coming back!
-Okay.
Sofia looked at the driver.
-Martin, drive very carefully. Miss Noboa, see you later!
-See you later, Sofia!
The car started slowly and left the estate.
Micaela gave the driver the address of the company and ten minutes later it stopped in front of a
building in the city.
-Miss Noboa, I'll be waiting for you here, just come by after work!
The driver kindly opened the door for her.
Micaela was a little anxious to get in, she was an hour and a half late, but she talked to the driver
anyway.
-There's no need, you can go home first, I leave at 5 pm, come at that time!
-It's okay, go to work, I'll wait for you here.
Micaela could not convince him, so she smiled apologetically and hurried inside.
The office was on the 6th floor and Micaela was already panting as she stepped out of the elevator and
rushed to her post.
Before she could sit down, the plump Mr. Romero came over and dumped a stack of papers on the
table.
-Micaela, you're fired!
Micaela was astonished, was a delay of an hour and a half such a big deal?
-I'm just a little late. It's not serious enough to justify dismissal, is it?
Several colleagues sitting next to her also looked on in unison, and a colleague who used to have a
special crush on Micaela came right up.
-Mr. Romero, this is the first time Micaela has been late. All the others are late very often, and they only
get the full-time attendance bonus deducted!
-Yes, sir, Micaela is a hard worker and does very well at work, so please forgive her this time!
Another colleague also came out to intercede.
Micaela looked at them gratefully.
It was touching that they were willing to stand up for her at this time, because they had not had much of
a relationship normally.
Mr. Romero made a face and said angrily:
-You people don't know anything! Go back to your business!
Then he addressed Micaela again with a decisive tone.
-You can pack your things and go, you'll be paid until this month, you're only an intern, it's already a lot
to be paid until this month!
Micaela bit her lip and looked up at the supervisor.
-Mr. Romero, are you sure you're not firing me for being late? Please give me a reasonable
explanation.
Mr. Romero sighed, he too had pinned his hopes on Micaela, but he couldn't do anything about it
because he was pressured by someone above him.
He lowered his voice and said:
-Did you offend someone you shouldn't have offended?
Micaela shuddered.
Who?
She had always been a discreet person and had done her job in a good way, she hadn't offended
anyone!
Mr. Romero shook his head, before leaving, he told her again to gather her things and leave.
Some coworkers looked at Micaela and did not know how to console her, they all lowered their heads
to do their own thing.
The classmate who had just spoken for her reached over and patted Micaela on the shoulder.
-Micaela, you're a good worker, you can get a job anywhere!
Micaela smiled gratefully.
-Thank you, Delfina.
After briefly picking up some of her personal things, which were nothing more than a small cardboard
box, Micaela hugged the box and went out.
-Micaela, I'll give you a ride!
Delfina Yepes caught up with her.
-Thank you.
-You're welcome, I'm also very sad to see you go!
When the two reached the elevator door, it opened just in time and inside were several people, the
woman in the center being the most striking, wearing a strapless dress, red lipstick and sunglasses.
Micaela was so despondent about losing her job that she didn't notice the person had stepped out of
the elevator and was approaching her.
-Micaela, you're so good!
A familiar voice made Micaela look up?
Wasn't that woman in sunglasses Adriana?
How had she gotten here?
Adriana became jealous when she saw how well Micaela looked in a simple dress.
-How could you jump from a third party?
Micaela was startled and thought, "Surely the guy has tied all the straps before putting the rope through
the window, so he wouldn't be found out that he had let her go."
Micaela sighed in relief.
Adriana looked at her silently and grew even angrier, and smirked again when she saw her clutch the
cardboard box in her hand.
-You got kicked out, didn't you?
Micaela was surprised, could it be that she...?
-Yes, it's me! Your company asked me to be the ambassador for your new product, and I'm going to fire
anyone I don't like!
-How can you have so much power if you're just a model!
Micaela looked at her questioningly.
-Good question, because my boyfriend is Marcos!
Adriana smirked.
-Marcos is the biggest shareholder of your company, heh, heh, heh, heh, heh. Oh, by the way, you are
no longer an employee of this company!
Micaela's face had a dejected expression that could not be hidden.
In other words, it was Marcos who gave her this power?
-Miss Elvira, you are here, come on, come on, this way please!
The manager came to greet Adriana, who was Mr. Franco's girlfriend and was not to be treated lightly.
Adriana looked at her smugly, the sadder she looked, the better Adriana felt.
She whispered in Micaela's ear:
-Micaela, I'm sure you'll come back crying and begging!
Chin up, she walked proudly with the manager, followed by a line of staff behind her.
Micaela took a deep breath, raised her head and said loudly:
-You dream!
Adriana, standing up and without turning around, replied:
-Then we'll see!
