Chapter 1820
Kaden looked at the youngest person in the group and praised, "You haven't disgraced your great-grandfather!"
Drew was General Landon's great-grandson. The Landon family had been in the military for generations and were of a noble lineage, something Kaden could not help but admire.
The Copper family had bid farewell to their military legacy during Yorick's generation. Kaden had always hoped for Yorick to follow in his footsteps and enter politics. However, he kept his wish a secret as he believed the youths should choose their own paths. He trusted that Nash would mentor an excellent disciple.
Drew, ever the gentleman, said, "You're too kind, Mr. Copper. I've prepared some tea. Please allow me to escort you to the lounge for a short rest."
Kaden smiled and nodded, then walked toward the lounge while surrounded by people. Shortly after they left, the female secretary led Nash and his companions out of the elevator.
She guided them to the governor's office and said indifferently, "Wait here. You're not allowed to leave until the governor arrives, nor are you allowed to sit."
"Is this how the governor treats his guests?" Nash remarked sarcastically.
The secretary was momentarily stunned. She then looked at Nash as if he were an idiot and questioned, "Are you genuinely clueless or just pretending to be daft? Do you really think the governor invited you here as guests?"
Seeing that Nash was still young and seemingly not very bright, the female secretary surmised that he was likely the country bumpkin who had stood up for the Mare family's daughter.
The disdain on her face was thick as she said, "Do you really think you're allowed to do as you please just because you have a few wealthy relatives? This is Capiton. Any random person you meet on the street here isn't someone you can afford to offend!" "You're from the Petro family, aren't you?" Nash suddenly asked.
He found it hard to believe that someone with such poor manners could become secretary to the governor of Capiton without having some kind of special connection. It was likely that there was nepotism at play and that she was a member of the Petro family, thus landing her this job.
The female secretary's eyebrows shot up. "Don't talk nonsense! I'm not from the Petro family. I am a Stone! Reagon Stone!" she exclaimed, even holding up her ID as proof.
Nash smiled. "Your reaction says it all. The Petro family used to favor boys over girls. They probably sent away quite a few daughters. You must be one of them."
Reagon's pupils contracted slightly. "You bastard! If you keep talking nonsense, I'll rip your mouth off your face!"
Nash smiled but said nothing. He nonchalantly sat on the nearby couch and closed his eyes to rest.
"Did I say you could sit?" Reagan roared.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
Nash crossed his legs and replied lazily, "Say one more word and I'll have the Inspection Office investigate you!"
Reagon's face instantly paled as Zeke and James exchanged glances. It looked like Nash had hit the nail on the head. This secretary was indeed a member of the Petro family.
"You listen here, you'd better watch your words. There's a price to pay for all the nonsense you spout!" Reagan said coldly.
Nash opened his eyes and gave Reagan a look. "I'm sure you know best if I'm speaking nonsense or not."
"You..." Reagon trailed off, her anger so intense her chest was heaving.
"Get out, or else I'll call the Inspection Office," Nash said as he made a show of taking out his phone and opening his contact list.
Reagan instantly panicked. "I-I'll go
But I'm really not a member of the Petro family!" With that, she turned and left the office without even looking back.
"Ms. Stone, you don't look so good," asked the governor-general's secretary with a worried look while holding a glass in her hand.
Reagan smiled absent-mindedly and replied, "I'm fine. I saw a rat just now and it gave me a fright>"
The governor-general secretary asked with surprise, "There are rats in this building?"
Reagan did not reply and immediately headed toward the washroom.
The man who married into the Mare family was a pretty skilled individual. He actually managed to deduce from her behavior that she was connected to the Petro family. Although her fake identity was
flawless, she was still worried that there might be some
inconsistencies.
She did not care if she was fired as long as it did not implicate her father. Reagan washed her face and then left the washroom.
After walking around the office building, she bumped into Colby, who was leaving the break room.
"Governor! The Mares are already in your office."
"Alright," Colby answered blankly.
