Chapter 31 Broken Friendship
Though the wealth the Jenkins family possessed had gone far beyond average, it still failed to reach even a mere proportion of that of the Armstrong family.
Matilda had been growing more craze about material privilege as she had been a friend of Juliette since childhood.
When Juliette was in a good mood, she would like to offer Matilda something she no longer fancied or something she ever deserted.
Though Matilda only received used stuff, the value of them still went beyond what she could afford. Only when she stayed with Juliette, she could taste the joy of living like a rich lady among the upper class.
So Matilda had been fawning on Juliette just because she was longing for privilege. Actually, she despised Juliette from the bottom of her heart, whom she deemed ignorant though with dazzling appearance.
“Preston, what brought you here?” Matilda hurried over with excitement when seeing him.
“Where is Jessica?”
Preston looked around but only to find Matilda here alone. So he uttered to ask.
Matilda had a long crush on Preston, but she hadn’t been courageous enough to confess in case she incurred the envy from Juliette. So she had to keep it like a secret. But now she felt like flexing her sense of crush as she noticed there was no one else around.
“Jessica asked Juliette out for a talk. Perhaps it will take quite a while before she returns.”
Matilda felt like stammering while facing her prince charming. Her heart started to run wild.
“Come on in, have a seat. You don’t’ need to stand still to wait for her.” Matilda suggested with a blushed face. She nudged a bit to spare some space for Preston to enter.
“Okay.”
As always, Preston showed no interest looking at her. Not to mention a talk with her. He walked in and sat down on the couch.
“Do you want a glass of wine? The vintage has just been airlifted. Would you like to try some?” worrying that Preston might leave first out of impatience, Matilda filled a glass with wine, trying to make him stay for a bit longer.
She passed him the glass of wine. However, she felt like being struck by drunkenness. Driven by intoxication, she took the chance to lean into his arms.
…
Juliette started to grow impatience because of walking on high heels for a long distance. Seeing Jessica still walking forward, she grabbed her arm to question, “Where are you taking me to for a talk?”
“I wanna touch up my foundation in the bathroom. But I feel bored if I walk such a distance alone. So I want you to walk me there. Whatever. You didn’t seem busy.” Jessica turned to smile wryly at her to reply.
“Are you kidding me?” Juliette was irritated. She turned around to leave.
“I bet you will see something interesting when you return to the room.” Jessica smirked to murmur as Juliette had walked a distance away.
…
“Matilda, did you…” Juliette walked to the door and pushed it open. But before she finished her words, she saw something that could set her on burning anger-Matilda was leaning on Preston with her arms wrapping around his body. Her eyes were filled with infatuation.
Hearing the voice from Juliette, Matilda, still wearing an intoxicating look, couldn’t help shivering out of panic. Her face turned pale. She hurried to tidy up her disheveled top.
But Preston still looked composed as if nothing had happened. The same thing always happened to him again and again. He had been used to it. From his perspective, it was just a common game for him to kill time.
“Where is Jessica?” Preston walked over to Juliette to ask as he was still concerning about Jessica.
“Jessica? Always Jessica! She is touching up her makeup in the bathroom.” Though confused and annoyed, Juliette still held back her tantrum and forced out a smile in front of her prince charming.
“I just need a business talk with her.”
Preston fudged with an excuse and was about to leave.
Her face turned pale. She wanted to stop him from coming to Jessica. But she failed. So she gave up.
“Juliette, trust me. I didn’t…” seeing Preston walking out of the room, Matilda hurried to stand up to apologize. Her body shivered greatly in panic.
However, before she finished, Juliette hit her hard with a slap.
Matilda didn’t even expect that. She teetered backward and hit on the table behind her back. The glass of wine toppled down and it spilled all over her.
“You didn’t? Are you trying to fool me with your disheveled look? If I had returned a bit later, you would have been riding on his crotch! I thought you were ingratiating yourself with me just because you were being a snob. But now I see, you are actually preying for my man! How dare you!”
Her anger even burnt stronger. Juliette grabbed a bottle of champagne with its cork removed. Then she spilled it all over Matilda and eventually emptied the bottle.
“You are hungry for man, right? Alright, your wish is granted!”
As Juliette was much stronger than Matilda, she dragged her to the bar next door, where there filled with lustful guys. And thus no lady dared to pay a visitThis text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
“Please! Please forgive me! I am sorry! Please!” Matilda could tell what she was about to face. She kept begging while trembling all over.
Overwhelmed with madness, Juliette spared no mercy to this bitch preying for her man. She then pushed her into the bar.
As Juliette shouted, those men were all attracted when hearing the voice of female.
“Gentlemen, I know you are here for something funny. Now there is a bitch who loves to hook up with guys in relationship. If you guys wanna play, just help yourselves.”
Matilda had been beaten black and blue by Juliette. Her clothes were partly torn during the fight.
Juliette threw her in front of those guys. She left after a few tough curses.
“Wow, what a lucky day! She said you were hooking up with guys in relationship, right? But you look nice!”
“Oh, poor girl. Don’t be upset. Though you failed hooking up with the guy you want, we won’t fail you, sweetheart!”
“Yeah, don’t be shy. Show us what you got!”
Those guys soon surrounded her. Matilda wanted to run away. But she was squeezed in the middle. While flirting, those guys even started groping her.
“No! Stop! Let me go, please…”
Matilda had never experienced such a nightmare. She was too freaked to make a move.
“What happened? Hey, you should be the friend of my daughter, right?”
Kevin came here to meet a few business partners. He didn’t expect to meet a friend of his own daughter here. Seeing her in the midst of trouble, he walked over to see what was going on.
“Hey, Mr. Armstrong, nice to meet you here. Are you coming for fun tonight?” some of those guys soon recognized him as they were also one of those in the upper class. So they took the initiative to greet him with a smile.
“Sorry, I don’t know what’s going on with her. But she is Juliette’s friend. Gentlemen, would you please let her go?”
Though Kevin was in the middle age, he had been exercising so he kept his own figure in nice shape. He looked uniquely charming as a mature gentleman.
Though the Armstrong family wasn’t one of those among the top in this country, they still enjoyed a status with privilege. Since he said so, those guys stopped what they were doing.
“Okay, Mr. Armstrong, we didn’t know you knew her. We are sorry about the misunderstanding. I am afraid we gotta go. Have a nice day!” one of them suddenly uttered and beckoned the rest of them to leave.
