Chapter 19
Chapter 19
But what surprised Jenny even more was the appearance of Connor shortly after Serenity had left.
He was Jackson’s personal assistant.
“Mr. Gunn!” Mr. Wallace quickly greeted him respectfully.
Connor looked at William with a gaze that resembled someone looking at a dead man.
Of all the people to provoke, William just had to go after someone Jackson had an interest in!
Today had been quite a coincidence for Jackson to be here in this club and witness the scene unfold
just now.
Connor turned to the security guards nearby and said, “Do to him what he did earlier.”
The security guards immediately complied. The two strong guards that had pressed William down on the floor dragged him to the pond’s edge and pressed his head down into the water repeatedly, just as he had done to Serenity earlier!
As for his former classmates who had followed him to watch the commotion including Zeke and Jenny, they were all dumbfounded.
No one expected the situation to turn out this way!
The security guards showed no mercy, and Mr. Wallace showed no intention of interceding for
William.
After all, the Sanders family was just one of the shareholders in this club. Sacrificing the son of one shareholder would surely please the other shareholders.
Connor then turned his attention to Zeke and Jenny.
Jenny was the first to regain her composure, and she smiled calmly.
“Sorry to have kept Mr. Valor waiting. We’ll go see him now.”
“No need,” Connor replied flatly. “Mr. Valor said he doesn’t have time to meet you two today. Please
head back.”
Without waiting for their response, Connor left.
Jenny and Zeke exchanged glances, and the former ground her teeth in frustration. The meeting she had arranged with Jackson had been ruined because of Serenity!
She wouldn’t let Serenity off the hook so easily!

When Serenity returned to the Sanitation Office, she was still shaken.
“Serenity? Why are you all wet? Did you fall into the river while delivering documents?” Xyla asked. ”
Did something happen to you on the trip?”
Serenity took a deep breath and replied slowly, “The documents… are fine. I accidentally fell into a
small pond just now.”
“Gosh, it’s freezing cold right now! Come on. Hurry up and change your clothes and dry your hair,” Xyla said.
Serenity nodded. It was lucky she had a spare set of clothes to change into here.
After changing her clothes, Xyla asked her, “By the way, Pete asked me to ask you if you have any requirements for a partner.”
“Xyla, I’ve already told you I’m not interested in a relationship right now. Could you help me turn him down and ask him to stop investing his feelings in me? It’s just a waste of time,” Serenity said.
Xyla sighed.
“If that’s what you want, I’ll talk to Pete for you. But as a girl, you’ll eventually want to find someone to spend the rest of your life with, right? Do you plan on growing old alone?”

An elegant and handsome face suddenly appeared in Serenity’s mind. She probably wouldn’t old alone since she would have Jack by her side. They could be like family, accompanying each other until their old age.
In the evening, when Serenity returned to her home, Jackson was already there.
“I’ll make dinner now, just wait a bit, okay?” Serenity said.
As she was about to head in to prepare the food, Jackson grabbed her hand and said, “Sis, there are
some tears on your clothes.”NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
Serenity followed his line of sight and looked down, noticing a slight tear at her neckline. It was barely noticeable unless one looked closely. It must have happened when William had torn her clothes
at the club earlier.
“The stitching just got a little loose. I’ll fix it up later,” Serenity replied.
Jackson’s
eyes flickered at her answer.
“Sis, did something happen today?”
“What could have happened to me? I just did my cleaning as usual, that’s all,” Serenity replied, not
wanting to tell him about the commotion at the club today.
The scene had been nasty, and she didn’t think it was something appropriate for him to know.
“But Sis… your hand is red and swollen. Did you get injured?” Jackson asked.
