5.Chapter 5 Forgot About Me
In a posh hotel suite, Jaxon stepped out of the shower with a simple white nightgown. Droplets of water hung on his brown hair, some cascading down his face onto the snow-white sheets. “Mikayla, I love you! Winona and I… I just fell prey to the temptation. You love me, don’t you? You’ll trust me, won’t you?”
However, there was no response from Mikayla on the bed, only the sound of her even breathing. Jaxon trailed his fingers gently across her cheek, luxuriating in her softness. Gradually, his touch wandered lower, drawn by a growing desperation for more.

Twenty minutes earlier, a modest MPV cruised steadily along the highway. Inside, Carlos smiled as he glanced at the words [Call Ended] on the screen. “Fiancé…”
His smile quickly soured. “Get me a private jet. I need to be back in Xosa, stat!”
“Yes, sir!” The subordinate in the front seat didn’t dare to disobey.
“I need to be at Xosa Airport in 40 minutes!” Carlos added.
The subordinate broke into a sweat, thinking, ‘That’s cutting it close. It takes an hour and a half at least.’ He picked up the phone in his hand and dialed a number. “Elvis!”
“Yes?” Elvis replied.
“Please help me check Mikayla’s whereabouts today. Get back to me in 20 minutes! No, 15 minutes!” the subordinate instructed.
“Okay,” Elvis replied.

Back at the hotel, Mikayla’s mind felt cloudy. She strained to open her eyes but failed, and she felt she had heard a familiar voice… ‘Jaxon!’
By then, Jaxon had shed Mikayla’s coat, leaving her in a fitted top. He always knew she was a knockout, but now his hunger for her was palpable. He started undoing the buttons to reveal her skin, then paused at the delicate lace of her bra. Right as he was about to slip past the last barrier, a loud crash echoed through the room.
Bang!
Just then, the suite door burst open, throwing Jaxon for a loop. He jerked his hand back and whipped his head towards the entrance. “Who are you?”
Carlos had just entered caught Jaxon red-handed and zeroed in on him. His vibe was intense, and Jaxon suddenly felt a chill in the air. ‘What a horrible man!’ Jaxon thought.
“Are you the second one of the Lindstrom boys?” Carlos approached Jaxon, his eyes narrowing, his face calm but his disdain evident in his tone. But as he saw Mikayla slumped behind Jaxon, her clothes askew, a flash of menacing anger crossed his face.
Jaxon bristled at the way he was being addressed. After all, the Lindstrom name held significant clout in Xosa as one of the four prominent families. The guy in front of him exuded an aura of authority, but Jaxon was sure he would’ve known him if he was a prominent figure. Plus, being interrupted at such a key moment had already set his temper on edge. However, manners drilled into him from a young age prevailed, and he managed to keep his cool. “You oughta show someContent property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
respect, man. Stop staring at my wife and hit the road.” He stood up and gestured towards the door. Even at six feet tall, he felt dwarfed by Carlos.
“How could a Lindstrom stoop so low? Is this what Hugo taught you?” Carlos’ voice was a dangerous rumble.
Jaxon’s suspicion spiked when Carlos dropped his father’s name so casually; not many in Xosa would dare. “Just who are you?”
“If you don’t want this mess to blow up and smear the Lindstrom name, beat it!” Carlos didn’t bother with an answer. He yanked the blanket over Mikayla, hiding her from view.
Jaxon stood there, weighing his options. He wanted to get Mikayla and run, but it was clear that Carlos was here for her—and he wasn’t someone to mess with.
“Get lost!” Carlos barked.
Meeting Carlos’ sharp gaze, Jaxon hastily gathered his clothes and left reluctantly. After Jaxon bailed, Carlos approached the bed and sat down, his expression melting as he gazed at Mikayla. “Seems like you’ve totally forgotten me.”
