CHAPTER 31

The 3 of them kept walking for another 10 minutes.

But weirdly, they didn’t see any water. And certainly not any wild animals.

There was a rot, disgusting smell in the air, like a seething mass of bacteria had taken over the surrounding area.

The bird song that accompanied them the whole way had also disappeared, leaving nothing but an eerie silence.

Something seemed off.

Eventually, the path led them to a huge cave. The cave stood 5 meters high and seemed large enough to fit in an army of people.

“This doesn’t seem right,” Rivena murmured, her face all serious.

Kaelan dragged Aurora to his back and gazed into the pitch-black cave, “We should leave, now.”

They were right.

This wasn’t the right way to go. And it was too late to leave now.

Aurora suddenly felt the wind changing direction, bringing a strong, disgusting smell!

Something was coming at them from the cave!

“LOOK OUT-”

Aurora screamed, shoving Kaelan and Rivena to the side.

They fell to the ground together, and jerked around to find a gigantic animal standing erectly by the cave.

It stood there like a tower. Then a deafening howl came from its mouth.

Aurora widened her eyes.

..What the f**k was this?!

Standing before them was a 13 feet tall bear!!!

It looked like a bear-but no way a regular bear was as large as that!

It had unnaturally sharp fangs and long claws, making it looked more like a werewolf than bear.

“What the f**k-” Rivena yelled.

“Bear’s variant!” Aurora cried hastily, “Someone transfused the werewolf’s blood into them and bred this hybrid, making them much stronger and fiercer!”

She had heard about those rumors before.

That deep in the back mountain there was an inhabitance of crazy, lethal bears.

One was enough to take down 5 werewolves at the same time.

But she always thought those were rumors to scare kids away from the back mountain.

Until today.

Until that map led them down this path!

“On your feet!” Aurora cried, “It is about to attack!”

The bear’s beaming red eyes were on them. Then with a roaring howl, it jumped directly at Kaelan!Text content © NôvelDrama.Org.

Kaelan rolled on the ground and dodged its claw. When he stood up again, he had shifted into a large black wolf.

The wolf snapped his head around and faced the bear, making a threatening hissing sound.

“Keep it that way!” Aurora cried, circling around the bear with Rivena. “Get its attention Kaelan! Rivena and I will find an opening to strike back!”

The black wolf curved his back and exposed his fangs.

The bear was enraged by his aggressive gesture. Waiving its claws frantically in the air, the bear lunged at Kaelan at full speed!

At the same time, Rivena and Aurora went for the bear’s opening back together.

Rivena jumped and shifted in the midair. She landed on the bear’s back and dug its fangs deep into the bear’s

flesh.

The bear felt pain. It started struggling like crazy, twirling its body around.

“Hang in there!” Aurora yelled.

She didn’t shift. Her small human form allowed her to move more easily.

Grabbing a handful of the bear’s chest fur, Aurora climbed up to the bear’s giant head. The bear was distracted by Rivena and Kaelan. It didn’t notice her.

Knelt down on the bear’s shaking head, Aurora drew a dagger from her back.

“GO TO HELL-”

She snarled, stabbing down into the center of the bear’s skull with both of her hands!

Blood gushed out, spilling all over Aurora’s body.

The bear roared and screamed loudly.

It **ed back a few steps and collapsed to the ground.

And made her landing with a huge thud.

“Oh my g**d!” Rivena shifted back and wept her forehead, “What a beast! If that bear’s body can’t lock up our position as top1, I don’t know what will!”

Kaelan had shifted back as well.

He ran to Aurora’s side and asked urgently, “G**a Aurora, are you alright?”

Yet Aurora didn’t answer him.

She put a finger on his lips, gesturing them to keep quiet.

She was still gazing into the cave.

Kaelan and Rivena froze. And then they gradually turned they heads and followed Aurora’s gaze.

In the cave, more and more red dots appeared against the darkness.

Those were bear’s eyes.

…There were more than one bear.

Back in the training field.

“Look-”

Someone cried and pointed at the sky.

Everybody looked up.

A red firework flared up into the sky.

A team was asking for their help in the forest!

“Oh my,” Chloe gasped. “It has only been 3 hours and people are already asking for help? Judging by the direction of this firework, it is where Aurora is at. And she calls herself the strongest G**a…What a joke…”

Yet before she could finish her sarcasm, Damien pushed her away roughly.

He strode forward and snapped, “I need a team of 10 people following me into the forest! Now!”

“Are you crazy?!”

Chloe cried.

She stumbled forward in her skinny high heels and grabbed Damien by his sleeves, “You are the Alpha for Christ’s sake! Why do you have to risk yourself for a bunch of soldiers-”

“What do you mean by that?”

Lance looked at Chloe with a sulkily look on his face.

“If a soldier is injured on the battlefield, as Alphas, are we supposed to leave them there?” Lance asked sharply.

Chloe choked.

She then noticed that everyone here-every soldier-was glaring at her hostilely right now.

Damien shook Chloe off him and ordered a soldier, “Chloe is not a warrior. She shouldn’t be here in the first place.

Escort her out.”

Then he hurried to the forest without a look at Chloe’s mortified face.

“I am coming with you!” Lance caught up with Damien.

They were worried.

Because Chloe was right about once thing…That it might be Aurora.

Lance, Damien and another 10 soldiers rushed into the forest, heading directly to the place where the firework was

fired.

They were all very fast.

Within half an hour, they had arrived at the scene.

“Look!” a soldier cried, pointing at the ground.

There were a lot of blood spilled on the ground, some even on the trees.

There were also deep claw marks on the tree trunk, Indicating that a fierce fight had taken place here.

“AURORA-1”

Lance cried and rushed forward, with Damien on his heels.

Damien’s body was strained, and his mind was a mess.

He couldn’t begin to imagine if anything bad happened to Aurora.

How was this possible?

Aurora was strong without question. He saw her defeat Baron!

There were only a few hyenas, bears, or lions in the mountain. Nothing too dangerous…

How did Aurora and her teammates get into trouble?

In the open area upfront, they finally found traces of people.

A gigantic bear was fallen to the ground, died. There was a severely injured brown she-wolf lying unconsciously by its side. The she-wolf’s body was covered in blood.

Damien’s head went blank for a second.

…Aurora!

Then he quickly realized something.

No, it wasn’t right.

This wasn’t Aurora.

Aurora’s wolf had silver fur, not brown.

Just then, two men rushed out of the bush that they had been hiding and s**d toward Damien crying:

“A-Alpha-! HELP!”

It was Baron and his soldier.

Damien could hardly hide the shock on his face when he saw them, “It was YOU who fired the signal gun?!”

“Y-Yes…”

Baron stuttered, still horrified.

There were crazy bears in this forest. He knew about that.

He also knew that the map he gave Aurora would lead that **h directly into the crazy bear’s cave.

But he didn’t know those bears were this strong! Nor did he know that one of the bears would ran off and stumble upon him!

He and Bobbie had been hiding in the bush while his female warrior Maxine handled the strayed bear.

Thank G**d that Maxine wasn’t half bad at fighting. Or all 3 of them would be dead by now.

“Holy f*k…”

Lance covered his nose and walked close to the dead bear’s body and examined it, “What on earth was that! Is this a natural inhabitant of this forest?”

“There are rumors about them.” Said Damien darkly.

Then he looked back at Baron, snapping:

“These bears never leave their cave! What is this one doing here?!”

A hint of panic passed across Baron’s eyes, “I-I don’t know…”

“Are there more of them?!”

“I don’t know…probably…”

“And Aurora?” Lance snapped, “Have you seen Aurora and the rest of her team?”

Baron gulped down nervously.

He wanted to lie about it or keep quiet. But he eventually caved in front of these two Alphas.

“I-I heard some fighting noises from that direction,” Baron pointed to the north and said. “I heard Aurora crying to her teammates, asking them to run…but then everything went quiet again…”

Baron shivered.

“…I think…Aurora is dead by now.”

There were crazy bears in this forest. He knew about that.
