Chapter 4
Shannon broke into tears. She couldn't understand why Nelson refused to acknowledge Simon Wyatt's help.
Sabrina didn't want Nelson to blame her for the current mess. She hugged Shannon gently and coaxed her. She whispered something into Shannon's ear, eliciting a laugh from the latter and relieving the tension in the room.
Nelson couldn't help but steal a glance at Sabrina, who was dressed in a grey pantsuit paired with a black cardigan.
She looked dazzling with her gorgeously unique appearance in the chic outfit. The smile on her lips added to her stunning beauty.
The look in his eyes hardened, and he shifted his gaze.
After they descended the stairs, Sabrina calmly told him that they shouldn't have gotten married three years ago. She seemed genuine from the calm look in her eyes.
He wondered, "So, is she serious about the divorce?"
Sensing his gaze, she looked him in the eyes calmly. Unlike before, she didn't blush shyly.
Shannon, who took a liking to Sabrina, held her hand tightly. "After the divorce, why don't you become my daughter? I will never forget the kindness of your family."
Jackson agreed with Shannon, even asking Sabrina what she'd like out of the divorce.
Taken aback by her in-law's suggestion, Sabrina fell silent in embarrassment. Thankfully, her assistant called her, informing her that a situation had arisen in the company.
"Jackson, Shannon, there are some complications at the factory. I need to check it out."
The factory?
"Isn't the factory at the outskirts?" It would take Sabrina two hours by car to arrive at the factory.
Shannon urged Nelson, "Brina doesn't have a driver. As her brother, you should send her to the factory."
Sitting on the couch, Nelson extended his legs. He didn't object to Shannon, but anyone could tell he was against the idea from his demeanor.
However, his indifference didn't bother Sabrina. After all, they were about to get a divorce.
"It's not a big deal. I'll handle it myself." Then, she said goodbye to Shannon.
Shannon kicked her son and warned him, "Nelson Tucker, if you don't behave, we'll kick you out of the family to live with that mistress of yours! Adopting Sabrina is the least we could do."
Nelson approached Sabrina when she was putting on her coat at the entrance. He carried a jacket on his arm. Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
In the past, she would have been on cloud nine if he made a compromise for her. Alas, his actions were meaningless to her now.
She refused to leave with him, but she needed a driver. Without hesitation, she handed her car keys to him.
They entered the car without talking, the same dynamics when they first arrived at the Tucker manor.
Sabrina spent the two-hour trip talking about work over the phone without a break.
Nelson stole a glance at her. A few strands of hair swept around her temples. From his angle, he admired her straight nose and flaming red lips.
When they arrived at the destination, Sabrina was about to get out when a thought crossed her mind. Placing a hand over her phone, she addressed him, "Hey, thanks. Remember to give me that brooch, brother dearest!"
Nelson scoffed with a sour face. She certainly made the switch with ease in no time. He sat in the car and watched as a crowd formed around her. Then, he lit a cigarette and sent his geolocation to Ronaldo Bailey.
He wanted Ronaldo to pick him up from the outskirts because he refused to wait for Sabrina.
Soon, he received a voice message from Ronaldo. "Nelson, is it true that your wife is now your sister?"
"Who told you so?" Nelson sounded icy.
"Shannon told me! She was thinking of hosting a blind date party for Sabrina at the Tucker manor this coming Saturday, and she asked me to introduce her to some hot and dependable suitors. Nelson, don't you think it's a pity you've never slept with a beauty like Sabrina?"
Nelson gritted his teeth. "And how would you know that?"
Ronaldo responded, "Shannon told me. Are you an idiot, turning your hot wife into your sister? Everyone in our circle is spreading rumors about your alleged problems in bed. Why else would you turn away a hot wife?"
Nelson hung up and sighed.
…
Ronaldo finally arrived two hours later. Nelson had wanted to nap in the car, but the constant flow of traffic in the industrial park was disturbing.
Ronaldo observed the irritable Nelson and fell into deep thoughts. Then, he began, "Nelson, friends in our circle have heard about Sabrina's company scandal, and they're eagerly waiting for her to make a joke of herself. It's a huge issue. Are we going to leave like this?"
Seated in the front passenger seat, Nelson opened his eyes. He retorted coldly, "Are you telling me to help her?"
"The factory technically belongs to the Tucker Group. Besides, Sabrina is now your… sister. Shouldn't we help her out?"
