Chapter 35
Chapter 35
Phedra was totally flabbergasted, “What?”
‘Fake?” Letitia was shocked too. But…Shela even wore it to show off in front of her.
What’s going on?
Gritting her teeth, Shela said. “Yes, it was fake. I…I just bought it to mess around, as a piece of accessary!” She just wanted to flaunt it in front of Letitia, but who knew she’d end up drawing Phedra’s attention!
Then where’s the real one?” Phedra immediately asked, “Elgin, you didn’t pass it off to some side chick, did you?”
Letitia was curious too.
“It’s always been with me.” Elgin’s face darkened, “How did you find Shela’s?”
Phedra pointed at Letitia. “She told me! Said you gave it to another woman and even gave me the address.”
Hearing this, Shela screamed, “Well, well, so it was you! You did this on purpose!”
Letitia coolly explained, “You were the one who said Elgin gave you the emerald bracelet, I just spilled the beans, that’s all. Who knew you were wearing a fake?
She even breathed a sigh of relief. Thank goodness, it didn’t end up in Shela’s hands.
“I never said the emerald bracelet was the one Mr. Ramirez bought at the auction!” Shela squirmed, “Mr. Ramirez, you’ve got to back me up here!
Sharp as Elgin was, he had already figured out the whole story.
And Letitia, that cunning woman, must have used this situation against both Shela and Phedra.
“Enough,” he said sternly, “I’m not giving this emerald bracelet to anyone!”
Phedra left reluctantly.
“Mr. Ramirez, Shela stomped her foot, “You can’t just let this slide.” She glared at Letitia, unwilling to let it go. She had been played and she was going to get even!
Clutching Elgin’s arm, Shela said, “Letitia did it on purpose, she’s always been out to get me. If you hadn’t come in time today, who knows what that wicked stepmother would’ve done to me! Look, I even got scratched!”
Elgin remained silent, directing only a glance at Letitia, which was enough to make her heart flutter.
Elgin usually gave in to every one of Shela’s requests. This time…maybe he would punish her.
“Make her compensate you, Elgin said with a sly smile, “Perfect timing, she’s designing a wedding ring… for you.”
Shela’s eyes lit up, “A wedding ring?”
“Yes, one that I’ll personally place on your ring finger, symbolizing marriage and fidelity. Whatever style you want, talk to Letitia directly.” Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“I want diamonds! Big and sparkly ones!” Shela said excitedly. “The more expensive the better, so eye- catching that nobody can ignore it, stunning the entire room, a priceless ring that AquaCity can’t find a second of!”
Letitia clenched her teeth, “I can’t design that.”
“You have to design it,” Elgin replied, “It’s your job.”
Letitia fell silent. This man was truly ruthless, trampling over her pride time and again.
“Exactly, Shela lifted her chin, acting all high and mighty, “I’ll be checking in on your progress, I need to approve your designs, and you’ll keep revising until I’m happy with it!”
Eigin emphasized, “You got that?”
Yeah.’ She had no choice.
And Shela’s taste, well, it was questionable at best. Just the description alone reeked of nouveau riche, lacking the understated luxury of old money.
She feared the final design might become a laughing stock online.
On the way back to the Ramirez Group, Letitia couldn’t help but ask, “Why are you keeping the emerald bracelet all to yourself? Are you not giving it to anyone?”
“What, you want it?”
“Of course, I do,” she admitted frankly, “It belonged to my mother.”
‘Well, let’s see if you’ve got what it takes. Win me over and who knows, maybe one day I’ll be in a good mood and toss it
your way.”
Letitia was intrigued, “Really?”
Elgin replied solemnly, ‘My word is my bond
To get her mother’s emerald bracelet back, Letitia decided to give it a shot. But…how could she possibly win over Elgin? The guy had a temper, was unpredictable, and didn’t seem to have any weaknesses or soft spots.
After a long thought, Letitia sought advice from Samson. They were classmates and friends, and he had known Elgin for many years, so he definitely knew him better than she did.
“What does Gin like? Samson stroked his chin, “He likes to lose his temper and cuss people out.”
“Mr. Stewart, I’m seriously asking for your advice.”
“Actually, I don’t know either. Gin’s a tough nut to crack, I can’t figure out what he’s thinking most of the time.”
Letitia sighed Was this the end of it?
Samson added, “But I do know what Gin wants the most.”
“What’s that?”
“A good night’s sleep, Samson said, “He suffers from insomnia, it’s been a problem for years, and never found a solution. But your scented candle worked for him, that’s why he kept it. You could start there.”
Letitia finally saw a glimmer of hope, “Thank you, Mr. Stewart!”
If she could solve Elgin’s insomnia, then getting her emerald bracelet back just might be within reach! Letitia immediately started researching remedies for insomnia. She remembered her dad once taught her some knowledge in this area.
At the Ivory Towers, in the evening.
Elgin was dining in elegance, with the butler and servants by his side.
Suddenly he said, “Letitia.”
“Here!”
“Are you done watching?”
Uh…she was just figuring out how to bring up the topic of helping him with massage to aid sleep.
Since getting back from the company, you’ve been sneaking peeks at me,” Elgin put down his fork and glanced at her, “What, you want me?”
Letitia nearly choked, and before she could respond, Elgin wrapped his arm around her waist, “Since you’re so eager, I might as well satisfy you.”
He led her upstairs, his arm still around her.
Letitia panicked, what was he up to now, “Elgin, you…”
“Dont move.” He spoke icily, tightening his grip on her even more
Once they reached the second floor, Elgin kicked open the master bedroom door and flung her inside.
“My bed.. is outside, Letitia struggled, trying to walk out, “I’m gonna head out first.”
Elgin yanked her back, “Starting today, you’re sleeping here.”
“Why?”
“Sleep on the floor, or on the couch; Elgin glared at her. “You’re not allowed to stay outside anymore.”
“The outside is perfectly fine!” Letitia broke free from his grasp and dashed through the door.
After a few seconds, she voluntarily came back.
“I just saw someone lurking at the stairway Letitia was astonished, “Who was that?”
“My grandpa’s spy.”
“What?!”
Elgin tilted his chin up slightly, “Grandpa wants us to give him a great-grandkid, expects you to get pregnant soon.”
Letitia subconsciously touched her belly.
“That… that’s impossible, she replied, “You wouldn’t have the enemy’s daughter bear your child.”
“True. But Grandpa doesn’t care, as long as the kid is mine, it’s all good. Anyway, you won’t be able to snatch the child away, nor mess with the Ramirez family.”
