THE FORGOTTEN LUNA

Chapter 10

KAEL.

I went to the shower, and when I came out, my clothes were already in bed, but Desiree was nowhere in sight. So I put my clothes on and went down to the main floor of the house.

It was already nine in the morning, so everyone was already up and running except me.

My stomach was already complaining, but instead of going to the kitchen, I headed toward the area where the offices were. I wanted a word with Adessa so we could discuss her setup and where she should stay.

I chuckled at my own thoughts. I didn't want to admit it, but the truth was, the idea of seeing her was something I was looking forward to more than the discussion. However, given what happened yesterday and the rejection that came between us, I doubt she would be up for a conversation. But I had to try.

I turned to the corner and immediately halted in my spot. Desiree and Miranda were in the middle of the hallway between my and Adessa's offices, and it looked like they were having an argument based on how crumpled their foreheads were.

"Is there anything wrong?" I asked, inserting my hands into my pockets before approaching them.

Desiree's body jolted, startled by my voice, but Miranda didn't show any sign that she was surprised by my presence.

"Desiree and I are just discussing things about Adessa," Miranda said nonchalantly.

My ears perked up at the mention of her name, and I couldn't stop furrowing my brows. "What about her?" I asked, removing my hands from my pocket and crossing my arms against my chest.

Desiree's face paled, and Miranda let out a sigh before speaking again. "Desiree doesn't want me to give you this letter from Adessa. She said you don't need any problems at the moment while you're still recovering, but I said it's better we don't keep secrets around here."

"There's really nothing important in there. She just said she was leaving." Desiree explained as she smiled broadly at me.

My eyes shifted between them. I couldn't even focus on the rest of their words because all I heard was that they had a letter from Adessa. "Where is she?"

"She left," Miranda replied.

"When?"

"Yesterday. Night or afternoon." Desiree immediately answered before Miranda could. "And I think you should be eating breakfast now. It's late."

I ignored her and laid my hand out. "Give me the letter."

Miranda handed it to me, and I grabbed it harshly before leaving them without a word, walking directly into my office.

"Alpha, did you hear me?" Dexter asked, and it snapped me back to the present.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Last night, I told him I wanted him and Delta Landon in my office first thing in the morning with reports for the renovation of the central hall and updates on the territory security.

I just finished reading Adessa's letter when they came in, and I didn't have time to think deeply about everything she said. However, halfway through Dexter's discussion, I spaced out, and my mind went to my ex-wife. She left, and she wished me a good life.

She admitted things had been rocky between us before I lost my memory. She knew all about Desiree and me getting back together, and that was the main reason she agreed to the divorce right away.

She already had plans to leave before the accident, and she put them on hold because I was still unconscious. She was pleased that we were both moving forward.

I didn't know what to feel. I felt empty. I felt numb.

Until I read the next part. She left all the debit and credit cards under her name that were issued to her, but she let me know that she would not be returning the wedding ring I gave her.

She thought it rightfully belonged to her.

Which was wrong.

It was a family heirloom.

My mother and the Lunas before her had worn that ring. Miranda asked for it when she married my father, but I refused and kept it for my future wife.

Whatever the reason I gave it to Adessa, it must be with a mindset that I hope our marriage will last. But it didn't, so I expected she would return it to me since she was cutting off all our ties.

She might have been attracted to its value because it is worth something.

"Earth to Alpha Kael." I heard Landon speak.

"Again, what was the question?" I asked almost immediately.

"The builders are asking for an extension of the deadline since the additional materials didn't come on time," Dexter explained.

"What should we do?" I asked again. "Is it reasonable to let them extend the deadline for the completion? Is the project almost complete?"

"Yes, almost done. It's up to you to decide if we will give them an extension without penalty or we can decline." Dexter said.

"You know I'm not in the position to decide this at the moment. Is this the first request for an extension?"

"No," Landon spoke. "I believe the Luna gave them two reasonable extensions already, but she made it clear that it should be the last one as it had been delayed for many months, and many offices were already affected as they were scattered everywhere." My eyes darted to Dexter, but he didn't say anything.

"I was with Luna Adessa when she spoke with the contractors." Landon continued.

The Delta was the one responsible for his Luna's security, so it made sense it was him with her all the time.

"The thing is, we paid them in full. And they kept reasoning out the delay in the production of the materials, but they confirmed before that they had ordered those materials before the renovation started, but it looked like it was not the case." "And if we don't allow extension?" I asked.

"They need to comply with the last deadline agreed on, and they need to pay the penalty that was in the contract if they don't."

"Show me the contract," I told him, as I wanted to see everything before making a decision.

"I'll get it from the Luna's office." Landon volunteered and stood up from his seat. I gave him a nod and watched as he left the office.
