Chapter 2035
The old woman then arrived outside Blackie's room, with Frank standing closely behind.
"Blackie, quit hiding in your room! Your friend's here!"
She called out while knocking on the door forcefully, "Honestly, how old are you?! Holed up in there for days just because of a tantrum, refusing to go to work. How shameful..."
Frank looked around and asked, "Ma'am, didn't Lanecorp arrange for a new place to live for Blackie? Why would you stay here?"
He was indoors, but the smell from the garbage around still stung the nose. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
The old woman shook her head and smiled. "It's not like the kids are mistreating me, but I just don't want to leave. You really get sentimental when you're old, see? I've been staying here for so long that I won't get used to living in a new place. But Tidus did get his boys to repair the house, hahaha... You hear me, Blackie?! Get up!"
Even as the old woman hammered on Blackie's door, Frank sensed that something was wrong since he was not responding even after so long. He then turned sideways, listening attentively, and could not even hear anyone breathing inside.
The old woman sighed just then. "Honestly, he's still not getting up—"
"Ma'am, please move aside," Frank suddenly said.
"Huh? Okay..."
As the old woman moved aside, appearing perplexed, Frank kicked open Blackie's door.
"Oh! W-What are you..." The ensuing bang left the old woman shocked.
"It's alright, ma'am. I'm just worried about Blackie."
The woman sighed and turned calm before feeling her way inside the dark room. "Blackie? Say something! It's time to get up!"
Even as she reached toward Blackie as he lay in bed, Frank stood impassively by the doorway.
After all, Blackie was lying in his bed with his throat slit wide open.
He had clearly been dead for a couple of days too, as the blood on his throat had dried up.
"Ma'am..."
"Blackie, what's gotten into you? Say something!"
Even the blind old woman sensed that something had gone wrong and soon felt the slippery sensation of blood on her fingers. "Blackie!" she screamed as she fell on her rear.
Frank did not catch her just then and instead entered the room, picking up and reading the letter placed on the desk.
[I'm sorry, Mother, but I'll be dead when you read this.]

[I've done something unforgivable... I've killed Tidus, my brother, because I was blinded by greed. My ambitions grew as our gang grew and I somehow forgot about the days when Tidus and I used to
rummage through garbage for food.]
[Mr. Lawrence, I'm sure you'll be reading this too. I beg you to please take care of my mother. She's innocent and doesn't know anything. In return, I will provide you with evidence, though I'm sure you won't hurt her anyway even without it.]

[I regret everything, so very much. Tidus, I will serve you in the next life to repay this debt...]
While Frank noticed the tiny USB
stick in the envelope, the old woman tugged on his sleeve firmly and
cried, "Sir, please... Can you see what happened to Blackie? What..
