Chapter 15
Chapter 15
Freya came out of the elevator, and Peyton went straight to her once she saw her; Peyton had been waiting for quite some time.
"Fay!" Peyton's face turned pale, and she grabbed her hands.
"Fay! Did Mr. Morgan do anything to you? Are you alright?"
She was just off work, and after the waiter sent off the customers, she wanted to pack up and go back to the rental house with Freya. But she was brought away by Nathaniel.
This incident was spread all over the Red Shift; many people saw Nathaniel carry Freya away on his shoulder. It seemed like they were rushing off to do something indescribable.
Everyone was wondering if Nathaniel's love for Freya had reignited.
However, it seemed to be the case that many people were envious of Freya.
Her face was disfigured, yet Nathaniel still loved her.
Nathaniel was the most powerful man in Saeville; whoever could have sex with him might smile waking up in the middle of the night.
Everyone envied and hated Freya, except for Peyton. She knew how heartless and cruel Nathaniel was.
She did not think that his bringing Freya away was a good thing; she gathered her courage and wanted to go upstairs to have a look. But his bodyguards stopped her; she could not even touch the button to his personal elevator.
It was almost three o'clock in the morning; Peyton was so restless and anxious. Hence, the moment she saw Freya, she dashed to her and blurted out a series of questions.
Freya almost lost all of her strength, and she said, "Peyton, let's go back and talk."
"Okay!" Peyton hurriedly brought her to the staff passage, but they were called by Della soon after.
"Ms. Cruz!" The two of them stopped walking.
Seeing as Della slowly approached her, Freya felt that it would be a long night.
She now knew who Della worked for, but she did not know why Nathaniel sent her to her.
Della looked at her with curiosity; she could almost see the bite mark on her collarbone. She coughed, and she said, "Ms. Gomez, you don't have to come to work tomorrow."
Freya clenched her fists hearing her words; she knew that Nathaniel was targeting her; he wanted to fire her.
Peyton could not hold her back again at the side; she sneered, "Ms. Cruz, you've been working in this industry for a long time; I believe you've seen all sorts of people."
"Freya is not a bad woman, and she works hard." "You know about it, right?"
"Mr. Morgan is being so unfair!"
"Okay, we don't want to work here either, but can you please pay us our salary?"
Della chuckled, looking at Peyton. Her cheeks fluttered; she seemed cute this way.
Actually, she liked her a lot; she was a loyal friend; it's just that she could be easily annoyed.
If she were in Peyton's position, she would not be able to oppose Nathaniel to protect Freya.
Peyton was a worthy friend, but she was too naive.
"Ms. Diaz, you can talk to Mr. Morgan if you're not afraid of death! Ask him for your so-called justice!"
Peyton was speechless after hearing Della's words; she did not have the courage to talk to Nathaniel.
Della glared at her and said, "Besides, it's the beginning of the month. Do you really want to quit? If you don't, you better be on time tomorrow! Just f*ck off now! Don't block my way!"
Della reprimanded Peyton, and she turned to walk away.
Freya and Peyton were in a daze; they only realized that Peyton could actually continue working despite Freya being fired.
Peyton sighed a sigh of relief; there were a lot of clubhouses all around Saeville, but the Red Shift was indeed the best workplace with the highest salary and best benefits, and the customers would not dare cause a scene here.
And now that Peyton still has to pay for Freya's mother's medical expenses, she would prefer to stay in the Red Shift.
She hurriedly grabbed Freya's hand and said, "It's alright, Fay; since you're not feeling well, you should rest for a few days before looking for a new job."
Freya was confused; she did not think that Nathaniel would let her off the hook this easily.
Does it mean that I'm safe if I don't appear in front of him anymore?
In the following days, Freya was cooking and doing house chores for Peyton in their rental house.
After she was done with the chores, she would be applying for jobs online. Her hand was disabled and her face was disfigured, so it was hard for her to make a good first impression. She might be a top graduate from her university, but all the design companies refused to take her in once they heard her name.
So, she gave up trying to work in her comfort zone; she even started to apply for work in restaurants, hotels, and even delivery companies.
Few of the companies were actually keen on hiring her as a cleaner, since this work did not require her to show her face to the public.
But somehow, these companies rejected her in the end.
So she started to see that something was off. She was not a fool.
Someone was actually preventing her from finding a new job; they did not even want to let her have the most tiring job with the lowest income.
"Could Mr. Morgan be behind all of these? He's so mean, how can he do this to you?" Peyton looked at the exhausted Freya and snorted.
Freya smiled bitterly and shook her head; since Nathaniel was willing to let Peyton continue to work in the Red Shift, he would not be that free to prevent her from getting a job elsewhere.
After all, he was a busy and successful man in Saeville.
Peyton grabbed her hands and said, "Let's not lose hope!" "Fay, there will always be solutions to things!"
"I still have enough funds to pay for Auntie's medical fees for three more months; as of right now, I will ask Ms. Cruz to assign me more work."
"Peyton," Freya said hurriedly, "Peyton, I'm really thankful for you. The Gomez family is a mess, and you're being dragged into it. I can't make you..."
Peyton looked at her and said in a serious manner, "Freya, do you know that I've always looked up to you? You're smart and talented at drawing, and you established your own studio and design company at such a young age. You even won a lot of prizes before this."
"I have always believed that a great person like you will have good luck one day! I really do! Please don't be in despair; you can do it!"
Frey felt warm in her heart; she barely cried after getting out of prison. But now, her eyes were filled with tears.
She hugged Peyton and muttered, "Peyton, thank you."
But Peyton's word had actually inspired her that, although her left hand was disabled, she could still use her right hand to draw.
Freya suddenly thought of an idea, so she ordered one hundred white t-shirts; one t-shirt cost around ten dollars.
She then ordered the painting materials, and she started to draw on each t-shirt.
Each of the designs was simple and unique; it was different from the mainstream design, and the color tone was nice.
She made some special adjustments to the painting so the color could stay for a long time.
Peyton praised Freya for being a genius, and in order to show her support, she wore one of the t- shirts to work.
Once she had done with all the t-shirts, she pushed a trolley to the second-hand market to sell her products.
She would be selling one t-shirt with her own design for thirty dollars, and she wondered if she could sell any of them.
It was eight o'clock at night; she expected Peyton to get home by twelve o'clock, so she had around four hours to spend in the night market.
Peyton prepared for her a banner with light for her to set up in the market. She raised her head to look at the night sky full of stars, and she felt that life was not so bad after all.
Peyton once said, "Don't be afraid of the darkest period of your life; things will get better at last."
Freya lowered her head to smile; sometimes Peyton could be smart.
She pushed the trolley; it was quite difficult for her as her left hand could not exert much force. But she still walked forward with determination.
She started to believe there was hope in life. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Suddenly there was a huge noise; a truck was losing control and coming right at the passengers.
Everyone was screaming and running around, and a trolley was hit. There were a lot of pretty white shirts scattered around the floor; they were soaked in blood.
