Their Secret Obsession (A Reverse Harem)

Chapter 0284

Connie POV

I stood in the dimly lit hallway, trying to steady my racing heart. The confrontation with Kane earlier had left me shaken. His cold dismissal replayed in my mind, each word cutting deeper than the last. How dare he treat me like that? After everything I'd done to be the perfect mate, to fit into this pack, to make a place for myself as his Luna.

And then to see her-Lottie-waltzing back into my home as if she owned the place the audacity. Jealousy coiled tight in my chest, mingling with anger and a simmering instability I could no longer ignore. I needed reassurance, validation-something to anchor me before I spiralled further.

If Kane wouldn't give it to me, then I hoped that perhaps Knox would.

But as I made my way toward Knox's room, wrapped in my most alluring lingerie a sheer, black ensemble that clung to my curves-I found my path blocked. Chase sat casually outside the door, legs crossed, head resting on his knees. His presence caught me off guard. He'd never paid me much attention before, always distant, almost indifferent. Yet here he was, offering kindness when I least expected it.

"Why are you being so nice to me?" I blurted out, unable to mask the mix of confusion and intrigue in my voice. My nerves tingled, and not just from the unexpected compassion. There was something undeniably attractive about Chase the sharp angles of his jaw, the intensity in his eyes. The fact that he was Lottie's brother added a tantalising edge. Ruffling a few feathers might be just what I needed.

"And no BS," I spat as he met my gaze steadily. As he met my gaze steadily, a swarm of butterflies erupted in my stomach, catching me off guard. Why was I reacting this way? This was Chase the aloof, indifferent Chase. Yet, under his intense stare, I felt a warmth spreading through me, both unsettling and thrilling. Confusion twisted within me; I shouldn't be feeling this drawn to him, but I couldn't deny the magnetic pull.

"Because everyone deserves kindness, even on their worst days," he replied, his tone genuine. His lopsided smile made my stomach flutter, and I felt a blush creep up my neck.

"Ha, whatever," I scoffed lightly, trying to regain my composure. But the way his eyes held mine made my thoughts scatter like leaves in the wind. Heat rose to my cheeks, and I was acutely aware of every inch of space between us-or lack thereof. The intensity of his stare was both flustering and intoxicating, making it hard to remember why I'd come here in the first place. For a moment, all the anger and jealousy faded, replaced by a thrilling sensation that made my heart race.

"Lottie," I stammered, the words feeling clumsy on my tongue. Shouldn't he be despising me? After all, I was the unwanted third wheel threatening his sister's happiness.

"Is your sister," I added as if he needed that clarification. A laugh left his lips as he raised an eyebrow. He raised an eyebrow, a soft laugh escaping his lips.

"Stepsister," he corrected with a playful smirk. The subtle tease in his voice sent a shiver down my spine. Was he flirting with me? The thought both excited and unsettled me. I found myself wanting to make him laugh again, to keep that light in his eyes directed at me. "He's tempting, isn't he? And if Knox and Kane can have their fun, why shouldn't we?" An idea sparked a reckless, thrilling idea. My wolf, Phina, stirred within me, her sultry voice echoing in my mind.novelbin

"But he's Lottie's brother," I

countered internally. A flicker of doubt crossed my mind. Could I really trust him? He was, after all, part of her family-the same family that seemed to overshadow me at every turn. Even if he was sexy as hell, with those piercing eyes and that confident smirk, there was no guarantee he wouldn't betray me the moment it suited him. What if this was some twisted game? But then again, the allure of danger only made him more irresistible.

"Exactly. Imagine the chaos," Phina purred, trying to persuade me. "They've neglected us, cast us aside. We deserve pleasure and attention."

She wasn't wrong. Knox was likely behind that door with Lottie right now, and Kane had returned reeking of her scent. The bitter taste of betrayal coated my tongue. If they could seek comfort elsewhere, why couldn't I? I bit my lower lip, allowing a coy smile to play on my

lips.

"Maybe we could continue this

conversation somewhere more... private?" I suggested, letting my

gaze travel over him appreciatively. I let my gaze travel over him appreciatively. His tousled blonde hair framed a chiselled face, the kind that belonged on magazine covers. Muscles rippled under his fitted shirt, hinting at a strength that was both protective and dangerous. Every inch of him exuded confidence and raw masculinity. Desire sparked within me; I wanted him, plain and simple. The thought of running my fingers through his hair, feeling the warmth of his skin against mine-it was a temptation I was finding hard to resist.

Chase blinked, a flicker of surprise crossing his face before he masked it.

"Connie..." The way he said my name sent a chill down my spine-not the good kind. His tone held a warning, a hesitation that hinted at rejection. Panic bubbled up inside me, gripping my chest tightly. I couldn't handle another dismissal tonight, not from him. Desperation edged into my voice as I closed the gap between us, hoping to change his mind before he could refuse me outright.

I took a step closer, the silk of my lingerie whispering against my skin.

"What? Afraid of a little company?" I teased, my voice dropping to a sultry murmur. "You said it yourself you can be a good listener." He hesitated, the air between us thick with tension.

"I don't think that's a good idea," he replied carefully. His eyes flickered with conflict, and I could see the internal battle he waged. His restraint only fueled my determination. Why was he resisting? Was it because of Lottie? Or perhaps he saw me as too fragile, too unstable. The thought irritated me. I wasn't some damsel in distress; I knew what I wanted.

"Why not? We're both adults. Just talking." I tilted my head, feigning innocence. Hope fluttered in my chest. Maybe he just needed a little coaxing. The idea of spending time alone with him was becoming more appealing by the second. Perhaps this could be the distraction desperately needed-the chance to feel wanted, to reclaim some control. If only he'd agree, maybe tonight wouldn't be a total loss.

"Push a little more," Phina urged. "He's wavering." I hesitated. Phina's sudden eagerness was unusual; she had never shown interest in Chase before. Confusion clouded my thoughts. Why was she so adamant? But perhaps she sensed something I didn't. Trusting her had always served me well in the past. Taking a deep breath, I decided to follow her lead. After all, what did I have to lose?

"Unless... you're not interested?" I reached out, lightly tracing a finger along his forearm. His jaw tightened, and for a moment, I saw a flash of something in his eyes-desire, conflict, perhaps both.
