Chapter 1513
Ben didn't respond, drinking in brooding silence.
Just as Hunter was about to press further, Nash shot him a glance that made him hold his tongue.
Ben drank heavily, while Nash and Quincy eventually excused themselves, and Caleb hurried off to handle work.
In the end, it was just Ben and Hunter left in the private lounge.
Hunter patted Ben on the shoulder. "If you can't forget her, then maybe it's time to accept her. Even if things don't turn out as expected, as long as you've done your best and have a clear conscience, that's enough. You're the one building a life with her, so why get hung up on something so trivial?"
He was referring to Jamie's past. And if Ben really wanted to count, he was her first man. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
But no man could truly tolerate betrayal.
What Ben couldn't get past wasn't Jamie's past, but her abandonment and the way she had betrayed him.
"I'm done talking about Jamie," Ben said coldly. "I'll settle the tab. You stay and enjoy yourself. I'm heading home."
Ben got up and left without looking back.
Hunter noticed the storm of emotions brewing in Ben's expression. Someone like him, weighed down by so much inner turmoil, clearly needed to deal with it alone. Hunter didn't follow.
What Ben didn't expect, however, was to run into Jamie as soon as he stepped outside.
He would never forget her face in this lifetime. But why was she here?
He strode toward her with purpose.
Jamie instinctively stepped back, but Ben's long strides quickly closed the distance. He grabbed her wrist firmly.
"What are you doing here?" he demanded.
Jamie, dressed in a cleaning uniform, looked down, avoiding his gaze. She knew what Ben must be thinking.
"Don't misunderstand," she said softly. "I didn't follow you. I work here."
Ben didn't say anything, his sharp eyes scanning her. Jamie, once a top law student with a bright future, could have been a successful
attorney if she hadn't walked away.

But now, Jamie was doing all sorts of menial jobs. For her, as long as it paid, she was willing to do anything.
His brows furrowed deeply. "Didn't my mother give you a million? How did you end up like this?"
One million.
Not a fortune, but not a small sum either.
Jamie had spent that money paying off her father's debts, covering Winnie's education, and keeping Charlie alive after his premature birth and extended stay in an incubator. It was long gone.
Jamie didn't want to dredge up those painful memories.
"How I spent that money is none of your business," she said. "It's my life, Ben. You have no right to question it."
She tried to step away, but Ben blocked her path with his imposing 6'2" frame, radiating intimidation.
"Do you really think you can just walk away?" he asked, his voice low and unyielding.
Jamie clenched her jaw. She didn't want to engage with Ben any further.
"My sister knows about us now," she said firmly. "She's carrying your child, and you're engaged to her. I hope you'll treat her well."
Ben hadn't expected Winnie to already know about his history with Jamie. That took the fun out of it.
"So, what you're saying is, you're not afraid anymore?" Ben said, gripping Jamie's wrist tightly.
His hold was so firm that Jamie couldn't shake him off no matter how hard she tried.
Jamie glared at him, anger flickering in her eyes. "Ben, if you want someone to blame, blame me. I'm the one who hurt you. Don't take it out on Winnie. She's innocent. You've already gotten her pregnant. The least you can do is take responsibility for her!"
