Chapter 1514
Jamie struggled desperately to free herself from Ben's grip, but it was futile.
Ben watched her attempts with a mix of frustration and curiosity. Beyond her anger and resistance, Jamie showed no other emotions.
Yet, according to Caden, she had risked everything to obtain the recording. His mother had also confirmed it was Jamie who had handed it over. Still, she had never used it to threaten him.
Ben's voice dripped with sarcasm as he stared her down. "What's your angle, Jamie? You risked so much to get that recording, you ignored your son's safety, and now you're here telling me to take care of your sister and build a happy life with her? Are you really that noble?"
His sharp, icy gaze bore into her, as though he wanted to rip her apart piece by piece.
Jamie hadn't expected Ben to know the truth, but it didn't matter. She had done what she felt was right and had no intention of using it against him.
"My sister is carrying your child, and the two of you are engaged. Ben, you should take responsibility. Winnie truly loves you," Jamie said calmly.
Her words made Ben laugh, but there was no humor in it. "Take responsibility? Jamie, what right do you have to lecture me about responsibility? Did you take responsibility for what you did to me back then?" Jamie's chest tightened painfully.
If she hadn't been forced by circumstances, why would she have ever abandoned the person she loved the most?
A bitter smile crossed her lips. "Ben, that's all in the past. Why bring it up now? You're not still hung up on me, are you? Or worse, do you still want to be with me?"
She knew how deeply Ben had once loved her and how deeply he now hated her.
She didn't blame him for resenting her after what she had done, but now that Winnie was involved and pregnant, Ben had to take responsibility.
Ben's anger, already simmering, boiled over as Jamie's words pushed him further. It was like she was deliberately fanning the flames of his fury.
Without thinking, he grabbed her by the throat, his grip firm and unrelenting.
"I should kill you," he snarled, his voice low and venomous. "You think I still love you? Jamie, stop your delusions!"
His teeth clenched, his expression contorted with rage, and Jamie could see every ounce of hatred in his eyes.
Jamie gave a bitter smile. She had once seen the way Ben loved her with all his heart, and now, she was staring at the version of him that wanted nothing more than to see her suffer. Her chest felt heavy, the weight of everything suffocating her, but what could she do?

"Ben," she said hoarsely, her voice strained from his grip, "if you're so determined, go ahead. Kill me. But f I'm alive, 'll make sure you take responsibility for my sister. You created this mess. You can't just walk away."
Her words seemed to bounce off him like raindrops on stone.
To Ben, Jamie's demands were meaningless-she was meaningless.
"You're nothing, Jamie. What makes you think you can stand here and demand anything from me?" Ben's voice was laced with contempt as his cold, piercing gaze bore into Jamie. Jamie's chest felt heavy with the weight of his words. It hurt more than she could express but what could she do?
She couldn't stop him from hating her. She couldn't undo the past. She couldn't even reach out to embrace him, no matter how much she might want to.Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
A bitter smile crossed her lips.
"I'm nothing," Jamie admitted, her voice quiet yet firm. "But if you won't take responsibility, I'll have no choice but to take legal action. My sister is innocent in all this!"
Every word she spoke revolved around Winnie. Jamie had always prioritized her sister, even when it came to money, any resources she received would go to Winnie first. They had always been close, their bond seemingly unbreakable.
But now? Were they still the sisters they once were?
Ben sneered, his tone cold and cutting. "You're always so protective of Winnie. But tell me, is she the same for you? She knows about us now, doesn't she? Don't tell me she doesn't hate you."
Jamie's heart sank at his words.
Of course, Winnie hated her. How could she not?
She hadn't come home or even contacted Jamie since learning the truth.
